1. Military Junta Burns Down Earthquake-Affected Village Without Any Battle

The People’s Democratic Force (PDF) confirmed that the military junta launched an arson attack on Kyauk Pyin Kan village in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, despite no clashes occurring. The village, already suffering from earthquake damage, was further devastated by junta forces through indiscriminate burning.

Additionally, internally displaced civilians were reportedly shelled with 60mm mortars and shot at with small arms. Junta forces also burned down makeshift shelters where displaced people were residing. During the first attack, 12 houses were torched, and property worth approximately 50 million MMK was looted by Pyu Saw Htee militia and junta soldiers.


2. Junta Drops 500-Pound Bombs on Mindat Town Again

According to Zalen News, Mindat, Chin State, was bombed by the junta for two consecutive days. On April 2, at around 1:30 PM, four 500-pound bombs were dropped twice, though details on casualties and damage are yet to be confirmed.

On April 1, at around 10:30 AM, the junta carried out an airstrike near the Wakaung Guesthouse in the eastern part of Mindat, causing destruction to civilian homes. Since the Chin Brotherhood seized control of the town, the junta has conducted at least three aerial bombardments.

Despite declaring a week-long national mourning period for the earthquake victims, the junta has continued launching airstrikes across the country.


3. Junta’s Air Force Jets Bomb Kanpetlet Town, Destroying 20 Structures

At 1:15 PM on April 2, Kanpetlet Town in Chin State was repeatedly bombed by junta fighter jets, damaging at least 20 civilian homes and buildings, according to the Kanpetlet PDF.

Residents in urban areas have been warned to stay alert for further aerial attacks.


4. Two Civilians Killed in Laymyethna Township Airstrike

On March 31, the junta dropped bombs from paramotors on Watawkawng village in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyarwady Region, killing two civilians and injuring another. Eight homes were destroyed by fire following the attack.

The junta’s 63rd Light Infantry Battalion, based in Kyonpyaw, has been conducting aerial bombings using paramotors and drones in villages along the Rakhine-Ayeyarwady border since mid-March.

Since the earthquake, the junta has launched 48 airstrikes, resulting in 58 civilian deaths.


5. Drone Bombing Kills a Civilian in Naung Cho

Despite the junta’s declaration of national mourning, a civilian was killed in a drone attack on Sammasai village, Naung Cho Township, northern Shan State, on April 2 at around 4:20 PM.

The TNLA confirmed that a junta drone dropped bombs from Thekhaw village, killing one local resident and damaging a house. On March 31, a similar drone attack targeted Kyauk Kyan village with 120mm bombs.

The Three Brotherhood Alliance, including TNLA, has declared a unilateral ceasefire to prioritize earthquake relief efforts, also suspending Thingyan celebrations in five townships under TNLA control.

6. Junta Fires 120mm Shells Eastward from Madaya

On April 2, junta forces in Madaya Township fired multiple 120mm mortar shells towards the eastern side of the township, according to the Wetlet Informational Network.


7. Karenni JCS to Adjust Military Operations If Junta Attacks Continue

The Karenni Joint Command Structure (JCS) announced that military operations will be adjusted based on the junta’s continued offensives in Karenni State. Despite the earthquake crisis, the junta has not ceased attacks, prompting Karenni forces to coordinate defense efforts while maintaining humanitarian operations.

Since January, the junta has attempted to reclaim key roads between Loikaw and Moebye but suffered losses, with over 60 junta soldiers killed and 16 weapons seized by resistance forces.

8. New Zealand Labour Party Calls for Ceasefire and International Cooperation for Earthquake Recovery

The New Zealand Labour Party urged international collaboration for Myanmar’s earthquake recovery efforts and called for an immediate halt to junta airstrikes. The party welcomed New Zealand’s $2 million aid contribution and emphasized the need for global pressure on the junta.

Labour also criticized junta-imposed restrictions that hinder humanitarian assistance.


9. Puta-O PDF to Donate Funds to Earthquake Victims

The Puta-O People’s Defense Force (PDF) has pledged to donate part of its fundraising efforts and members’ allowances to help earthquake victims in central Myanmar. The group emphasized solidarity and support for those affected by the disaster.


10. Due to the violent actions of the military regime in Magway Region, a total of 95 people have lost their lives, including 12 children under the age of 18.

It has been reported that due to the military regime’s violent actions in Magway Region, 29 women and 66 men, totaling 95 individuals, have died, including 12 children under the age of 18.

According to information collected by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), from January 1 to March 31, 2025, the deaths of 29 women and 66 men in Magway Region due to the military regime’s actions have been confirmed by name. Among the deceased, 12 were children under the age of 18.

Of the total casualties, 53 people were killed due to airstrikes carried out by the military regime, while 10 people were killed by heavy artillery shelling.

On March 31, at 2:40 PM, the military regime fired heavy artillery from Defense Equipment Factory No. 24, located in Pakokku Township, toward Palaung Village in Pakokku Township. One of the shells landed and exploded inside the village, hitting Ma Eikaryi in the abdomen, resulting in her death.
