6. A total of 357 people were taken hostage by the terrorist military, with 65 in Mandalay Division and 60 in Yangon Division
On June 20, according to the data collected by the AAPP (Assistance Association for Political Prisoners), there were 357 people who were taken hostage by the terrorist military junta across the country, with 65 in Mandalay Division and 60 in Yangon Division.
“Between February 2021 and June 20, 2023, the junta arrested (357) people as hostages across the country, with Mandalay Region reporting the highest number of hostages, with (65) people, followed by Yangon Region with (60) people,” it stated.
Since the coup in 2021 to June 20, 2023, a total of (23,386) people were arrested and among them, (19,044) are currently under detention, (6,457) of whom are serving sentences.
7. 4 long-range rockets were fired at Zeephyukone (Pyu) Village, Pale Township
On June 20, the Yinmarbin District Battalion-19 (Pale Jokers PDF) informed the military news that they attacked the village of Zeephyukone (Pyu) in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, with 4 long-range rockets.
“On June 19, at 8:30 p.m., Pale Jokers Battalion No. 19 (Pale Jokers PDF) attacked the Zephyukone (Pyu) Village, Pale Township, with 4 long-range rockets,” it stated.
The defense forces were able to retreat unharmed after firing, and the damage from the military council side is still under investigation.
8. Defense forces attacked a junta checkpoint between East Chaukkan Village and West Chaukkan Village, Pakokku Township
On June 20, Myaing PaKaFa informed the military news that defense forces attacked a junta checkpoint between East Chaukkan Village and West Chaukkan Village, Pakokku Township.
“At about 1:30 p.m. on June 19, defense forces attacked a junta checkpoint between East Chaukkan Village and West Chaukkan Village, Pakokku Township. We were able to shoot at 2 soldiers who were about 80 meters away until they fell, and a total of 5 people were injured,” it stated.
The attack was jointly carried out by the Burma Revolution Ranger, Zarmani Drone Force, Chauk Guerrilla Force, Black Dragon, PPDF, Squadron-3 of Myaing Battalion-1 and Bo Ta Htaung Guerrilla Force.
9. Minbu District PDF Battalion-3 attacked and destroyed Tapwin Village police station in Sidoktaya Township and captured 2 Pyu Saw Htee members as prisoners of war
On June 20, the military headquarters of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) Army announced the military news that Minbu District PDF Battalion-3 attacked and destroyed Tapwin Village police station in Sidoktaya Township and captured 2 Pyu Saw Htee members as prisoners of war.
It stated that on June 15, around 5:45 p.m., Minbu District PDF Battalion-3 attacked about 40 junta troops from IB 253, IB 254, IB 255, DI 20, and Pyu Saw Htee members, stationed at Tapwin Village police station in Sidoktaya Township, Minbu District, Magway Division.
During the battle, the enemy soldiers left the camp and ran away. 2 Pyu Saw Htee members were captured as prisoners of war, and a motorcycle and some food were seized.
It is reported that the People’s Defense Forces were able to burn down the camp abandoned by the enemy and successfully retreat without harm.
