1. Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann urges listening to people’s will and voices and processing the work quickly
Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann remarked and urged the following at the June 1 meeting of the Interim Local Administrative Central Committee (ILACC):
“The good performance of a government comes from listening to the voice of the people, so no matter what issues are dealt with or what decisions are made, if they are not in line with the will of the people, it is impossible to implement them if the people do not accept them, and this Spring Revolution is proof of that. Therefore, those who are directly responsible in the townships must pay close attention to the wishes and voices of the people and take prompt action.”
Furthermore, the Union Prime Minister directed that the actual situation in each township be compiled in an organised manner, as well as that ministries consult and exchange opinions.
2. Union Minister U Aung Myo Min holds a discussion at the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Headquarters
According to the June 2 press statement of the Representative Office of the National Unity Government in Australia, Union Minister U Aung Myo Min held a discussion at the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Headquarters on May 31, at the invitation of the ACTU.
During the discussion, Union Minister U Aung Myo Min raised the difficulties encountered by Myanmar employees, their activities, and labour rights issues.
3. Financial support for mahout staff and to buy supplements and medicines for elephants is provided
On June 2, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MONREC) of the National Unity Government announced that it had provided financial support for mahout staff and to buy supplements and medicines for elephants from donations received in January 2023.
It was also stated that vaccinations for elephants have been completed with those donation funds.
4. The junta columns raided the villages in the western part of Chaung-U Township for three days in a row and burned down 47 houses in Shan Htoo village
On June 2, the Chaung-U Revolution (CUR) team reported: “A terrorist military column has been conducting raids on villages in the western part of Chaung U Township, Sagaing Region, since May 30. Then it engaged in skirmishes with the People’s Defence Forces since they arrived in Mal Thel Kyoe Kwin village. Since the column repeatedly got hit by landmines, it was unable to make it to Kin Mon Taw village, a village dominated by junta-backed Pyu militia. The column burned down 47 houses in Shan Htoo village, located along ChaungU-Amyint Road in Chaung-U Township.”
The terrorist military forces continue to raid and burn down villages in Chaung-U Township.
5. Residents remain displaced since the military launched air strikes on Ywar Thar Yar village and nearby villages in the north-western part of Indaw Township
The ABSDF Northern reported on June 2: “We, the ABSDF, took care of the cows and pigs raised by those villagers who had fled the villages to safety when the military council forces and our ABSDF engaged in battles in Maw Teik village and Ywar Thar Yar village, situated between Indaw Town and Banmauk Town. The battles in Ywar Thar Yar village in the northwest part of Indaw Township between our ABSDF and the military council forces began on May 22, and the military attacked nearby villages with air strikes, resulting in residents fleeing to safety until now.”
On April 11, 2023, the military launched air bombardments on Pazigyi village in Kanbalu Township of Sagaing Region, killing 174 people, majority of whom were children and women.
6. A vehicle of the Mawyawaddy Navy Regional Command travelling from Kan Pauk to Kaleinaung was attacked by mines, killing at least three
On June 2, the Kanbauk Defence Force released an operation report stating, “The Kanbauk People’s Defence Force, which was waiting in advance near Pyaung Pope mountain upon receiving intelligence, attacked a vehicle from the Mawyawaddy Navy Force with mines while it was travelling from Kan Pauk towards Kaleinaung.”
According to the report statement, there were about 10 junta troops in the vehicle, and at least 3 were killed, 4 were injured, and the vehicle was also destroyed in the mine attack. A member of the KBDF reportedly received a bullet wound (non-critical) due to the return fire of the military council force, and everyone had successfully retreated.
