Myanmar Spring Revolution Morning Fresh News for 2023 August 29

1. The NUG Union Ministers attended the meeting between the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division

On August 28, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division (34/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, a member of the ILACC, and Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM), who is also a member of the ILACC, gave opening speeches.

Following, officials from ministries explained the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, activities, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division.

2. Union Minister U Htin Lin Aung said that they are all trying their best in the Spring Revolution to get everyone back home

The Union Minister said this at the International Conference For Myanmar Spring Revolution held in Buffalo, New York, on August 26.

“Today, there are families who have been sacrificing themselves on the front line, and there are also family members who have sacrificed and we will never be able to see them again. Therefore, we are all trying to get everyone back home today,” the minister said.

The Chairman of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), U Aung Kyi Nyunt, the NUG Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, U Moe Zaw Oo, officials from the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), and Myanmar activists from the United States and Canada also attended the conference.

3. Union Minister U Soe Thura Tun said that he will do everything until the military council that destroys ancient heritage can be punished in international courts

Union Minister of Electricity and Energy U Soe Thura Tun, chairman of the Interim Board for Heritage Administration, said that he will try his best to make sure that the military council that destroys ancient heritage will be punished in international courts.

“We have to give priority to the military front to achieve the victory of the revolution, but we also have to take action against the terrorist army in the international court. In the 1954 Hague Convention, it was also stipulated that the destruction of ancient heritage is a war crime. There are good examples in the world of how to punish those who destroy heritage. For example, Ahmed Al Fateh, who ordered the attack on religious and ancient buildings, was punished by the international court in 2016. So we will definitely work to achieve the result,” said the minister.

Terrorist military council forces destroyed a total of 6 ancient heritage sites including the ancient temple in Thantlang, the ancient heritage area of Mrauk-U in northern Rakhine State, some villages in the old Pyu town of Hanlin, and an ancient temple in Chan Thar Village, Ye-U Township.

4. The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration held a meeting with the township people’s administrative bodies

On August 28, the meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MOHAI) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Divisions (17/2023) was held. At the meeting, the Associate Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration gave an opening speech.

Following, the Associate Permanent Secretary of MOHAI explained the activities of the ministries, and the attending members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding the policies, direction, ground administrative activities, difficulties, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Associate Permanent Secretaries, officials from the Public Administration Department, Police Department, Fire Department, Immigration Department, and Department of Special Investigation, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Divisions.

On August 28, the Taw Hlan Na Khan Nee campaign announced that they had completed the purchase of over 300,000 kyat worth of bullets with the funds raised from “Taw Hlan Na Khan Nee” Project-1.

The Defence Minister gave certificates of appreciation to those who participated in the “Taw Hlan Na Khan Nee” Project-1, which raised a total of more than 31.4 million fund.

8. While inspecting trucks in Tigyaing Township, Tigyaing PaKaFa seized military equipment and household items belonging to Brigadier General Myat Min Moe, who had transferred from Loikaw to Danai

On August 9, 2023, the People’s Defense Force (Tigyaing PaKaFa) under the command of People’s Defence Force (PDF) No. 1 Military Region, Katha District Command, seized the military equipment and household items of Brigadier General Myat Min Moe, who had transferred from Loikaw to Danai while inspecting trucks in Tigyaing Township.

Brigadier General Myat Min Moe was reportedly transferred from being the Regional Commander of the Regional Operations Commands (Loikaw) to the Regional Commander of the Regional Operations Commands (Danai).

The seized military items are: 70 sets of military uniforms, 465 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 5 grenades, 1 12-wheeler truck, 2 Skynets, 150 bags of fertilizer, 1 Sony camera, and a fax machine, a big jammer, a small jammer, 2 PC Computers, 4 TYT Communication Machines, 4 Inverters, one set of equipment, 3 pairs of military boots, 6 medals, 2 TVs, 1 glue dispenser, and 2 cartridges.
