1. Union Minister U Nai Suwunna attended the meeting between the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions
On August 2, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions (25/2023) was held.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, a member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.
Following, officials from ministries discussed the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations, and challenges encountered on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions.
2. 375 ground schools have been accredited as “Interim People’s Basic Education Schools”
A total of 375 ground schools have been accredited as “Interim People’s Basic Education Schools”.
On August 2, the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government issued Announcement No. (14/2023).
The Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government is cooperating with people’s education schools on the ground so that students who have lost their chance to education in the interim can continue their education, according to the statement.
Among the schools that have submitted applications for accreditation to the Ministry of Education, 375 schools that have pledged to follow the 11 accreditation policies have been verified as “Interim People’s Basic Education Schools”.
The ministry has informed that online schools and ground-based people’s education schools that are still under review will continue to be announced.
3. Deputy Minister Daw Ei Thinzar Maung said that the people who are replenishing military expenses are already expecting victory
Deputy Minister Daw Ei Thinzar Maung said in the talk “Karenni Dream of 100 Rifles” that the people who are replenishing military expenses are already expecting victory.
“Recently, we only have people to rely on. We have to replenish military expenses. We have to buy military weapons, food, uniforms, etc. In such a situation, the public also expects victory. At the moment, major changes in the military need to happen. It is becoming necessary. Karenni is a region of our motivation. It has become very difficult for the enemy to march Karenni by land,” the Deputy Minister said.
From December 21, 2021 to April 30, 2023, when the “PRF – People’s Revolution Supply Family” project started, US$10.93 million was received and used during the 17-month period. The 9.03 million US dollars were used to support the battalions of the People’s Defense Force Army (PDF) of the Ministry of Defence of the National Unity Government.
With the support of the PRF program, USD 1.9 million has been sent directly to the People’s Defense Forces (PaKaFa), the Local Defense Forces (LDF) and military weapons producing forces, the Ministry of Defence has announced.
4. Analysts of the revolution need to not dismiss the people’s strategic choices
Deputy Minister U Maw Htun Aung for Ministry of Electricity and Energy, said that analysts of the revolution should not dismiss the people’s strategic choices.
“In the revolution, there are ways to identify and eliminate fraud and self-interest related to the people’s support activities within two years, and I am encouraged to see that the strategy has developed. The Spring Revolution, with all-inclusiveness, marched with strategies that everyone knew, so even if there were mistakes, everyone spoke out and repaired them. In computer terms, it is like open source development. I think analysts of the revolution should not dismiss the strategic choices of the people,” the Deputy Minister said.
After the military seized state power on February 1, 2021, the Spring Revolution emerged along with the public movement against the military dictatorship.
5. During the first 7 months in 2023, a total of 701 men across the country have been killed due to the junta’s operations, with the highest number being in Sagaing Region with 407 men
On August 2, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) stated the following in its “Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup (Updated 2 August 2023).”
“According to data collected by AAPP, from January to July 2023, (701) men across the country have been killed due to the junta’s operations. The highest number of fatalities occurred in Sagaing Region, with (407) deaths recorded. Moreover, (1,119) men have been arrested across the country. Sagaing Region contained the highest number of arrests, with (263). Among the (1,119) men arrested, (1,097) are still detained in prisons across the country.”
6. The terrorist military burned Mayakan Village in Depayin Township
On August 2, the Depayin Township Brotherhood group informed that Mayakan Village in Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, was burned down by the terrorist military.
“Today, this is the 3rd time arson in Mayakan Village in Depayin Township,” it stated.
The ISP-Myanmar (Institute for Strategy and Policy-Myanmar) also stated in ISP Data Matters as follows:
“At least 81899 houses and buildings (including religious buildings) have been torched and destroyed since the coup two years ago. Of that number, almost 30% (at least 24,138 houses and buildings) were burned down in the first six months of 2023. More than 72% of arson attacks in the whole county (at least 59,225 arson attacks) occurred in several villages within the Sagaing Region.”
7. Due to the military council column invading the eastern part of Depayin Township, thousands of refugees are still fleeing the war amidst the bad weather
On August 2, the Depeyin Refugee Supporting Team stated that thousands of refugees are still fleeing the war amidst the bad weather due to the military council column invading the eastern part of Depayin Township.
“The terrorist military council column that is invading in the eastern part of Depayin Township has raided Mayakan Village, and due to the raid, thousands of war refugees are still fleeing,” it stated.
For war refugees who are still in need of aid, the Depeyin Refugee Supporting Team is providing as much assistance as possible. Donors are requested to contribute as long as they are able to help those fleeing the war.
8. Aerial attacks were conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles that can carry up to 3 kg, upon Zee Taw Village (Pyu Saw Htee Village), Yesagyo Township, Magway Region
On August 2, Yesagyo PaKaFa confirmed the military news that they carried out aerial attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles capable of carrying 3 kg, upon Zee Taw Village (Pyu Saw Htee Village), Yesagyo Township, Magway Region.
“On August 1, at around 5:00 p.m., aerial attacks were conducted by unmanned aerial vehicles capable of carrying 3 kg, upon Zee Taw Village (Pyu Saw Htee Village), Yesagyo Township, Magway Region. Due to this attack, there may be casualties among Pyu Saw Htee members, and it has not been confirmed yet,” it stated.
Together with Yesagyo Township People’s Defence Force (Yesagyo PaKaFa), the operations were jointly conducted by Salingyi Special Task Force – SSTF {Shar Htoo Waw Technical Team 4}, Shar Htoo Waw Technical Team 3 (PDAF).
9. Since the morning of August 2, a clash broke out between the revolutionary alliance forces and the military council troops who invaded in a column the Demoso-Hpruso road
On August 2, Karenni Nationalities Defense Force-KNDF (Central Information Department) released military news that since the morning of August 2, as the military council troops invaded a column, a clash broke out with revolutionary alliance forces on the Demoso-Hpruso road.
“From the morning of August 2, as the military council troops invaded a column heading towards Hpruso, a clash broke out with our revolutionary alliance forces on the Demoso-Hpruso road,” it stated.
Due to the above military situation, people traveling using the Daw Nyin Ku-Htee Paw So road are specially informed that the above road will be temporarily closed due to the ground military situation and civilians are requested not to travel at all.

The People’s Defense Force (PDF) (Military Headquarters) released the military news on August 2 that 2 enemy soldiers were shot and killed, while they were drinking beer at the Sone See Yar Beer shop on the Myat Chay-Kamma road in Pakokku Township, Pakokku District, Magway Division, and 2 MA-1 rifles and 17 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were seized.
“At 2:02 p.m. on July 28, 2023, Pakokku District Battalion 8 of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked 2 enemy soldiers who were drinking beer at Sone See Yar Beer shop on the Myat Chay-Kamma road in Pakokku Township, Pakokku District, Magway Division.”
It is said that one enemy soldier ran away with a motorcycle. He was hit by a bullet and fell down in the gutter beside the Myit Chay-Kamma road when the defense forces chased and shot. He was shot dead because he refused to surrender.
During the shooting, 2 enemy soldiers were killed and 2 MA-1 rifles and 17 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were seized.
