On June 5, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration U Lwin Ko Latt said the following at the meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration (MOHAI) and the township people’s administrative bodies.

“The implementation of interim administration activities is the implementation of public service activities. The administrative organizations operating in the townships are very important, so it is necessary to constantly review the implementation of administration. When administrative activities are carried out on the ground with full responsibility, there may be many challenges in being practically responsible for security and judicial issues. So, the challenges must be sorted out in a balanced way. The activities of the National Unity Government have been carried out simultaneously with the implementation of the revolution and the reconstruction of the country. We have been able to implement these activities until now, and it is because the public and relevant officials are working respectively in their roles. We must turn weaknesses into strengths and work together collectively,” said the minister.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt, Deputy Minister U Khu Hte Bu, Permanent Secretary, Associate Permanent Secretary, officials from the Public Administration Department, Police Department, Fire Department, Immigration Department, and Department of Special Investigation, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Divisions.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Nai Suwunna, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Sagaing Division.

3. About 200 trees were planted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation in commemoration of World Environment Day

It is said that the plants included ironwood trees, padauk trees, golden bell trees, cassia trees, Royal poinciana trees, cherry trees, white-orchid trees, cobra saffron trees, and mangium trees.

“The United League of Arakan / Arakan Army (ULA/AA) troops are continuing to repair and build houses one by one in some villages in Mrauk-U Township that were damaged by the devastating Cyclone Mocha.”

Cyclone Mocha, which hit on May 14, 2023, killed 455 people and destroyed 42,517 acres of agricultural lands.

During the first quarter of 2023, there were at least 442 airstrikes by the military council in at least 56 townships.

At least 693 civilians were killed during the fighting and airstrikes that took place during this period. Among these, the Pazigyi Village incident in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Division is the most prominent, and at least 158 civilians were killed in that incident alone.

The enemy soldiers reportedly retreated due to the damage, but there was no damage to the revolutionary forces.

On June 5, West Plains LDF confirmed the military news that more than 30 convoys of military council that came from Pauk to Pakokku to buy food were hit by landmines.

“At about 11:00 a.m. on June 5, at a place on the Pakokku-Mindat road, more than 30 vehicles of the military council, which came from Pauk to Pakokku to buy food, were attacked by the West Plains LDF with mines and small arms near the Tetma Ridge,” it stated.

Since the February 1, 2021 coup and the emergence of the Spring Revolution, a total of (3,620) people, including pro-democracy activists and civilians have been killed through military crackdowns against the pro-democracy movement.

On June 5, the West Plains Force – WPF (LDF) confirmed the military news that a junta convoy containing more than 30 military vehicles that came to Pakokku to buy food from Pauk was attacked with mines.

“At around 11:00 a.m. on June 5, a junta convoy containing more than 30 military vehicles that came from Pauk to Pakokku to buy food was attacked by the West Plains Force – WPF (LDF) with mines and small arms at a road section near the Tetma Ridge on the Pakokku-Mindat highway road,” it stated.

The damages of that convoy are still being confirmed and investigated.
