1. The Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) held a meeting with the people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions

On May 3, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the people’s administrative bodies of Yangon Division (12/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, Ministry of Labour, and member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, officials from ministries explained the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations, and challenges encountered on the ground. Then, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Union Minister of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, and a member of the ILACC, delivered a closing speech.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, relevant officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions.

“The NUG has also systematically collected evidence and collated data on 171 atrocities committed by the military junta. These include crimes against humanity and mass killings of ethnic groups. The NUG has submitted the evidence to the UN’s Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) of the Human Rights Council so that justice can be served in the post revolution period. 

On 1st February it announced that all objections against the case of Ethnic Cleansing of Rohingya People brought against Myanmar by Gambia in the International Court of Justice were withdrawn. 

With the help of expert organisations with special interests in universal jurisdiction, cases have been brought against the military junta in Germany, Argentina, and Turkey. There will be more prosecutions brought forward in other countries with their help,” it stated.

3. NUG said that they were able to support about 4,000 million Myanmar Kyats for CDMs

It was mentioned in the “Report To the Public on 2nd Anniversary of National Unity Government” on May 3 that it was able to provide assistance of about 4,000 million Myanmar Kyats for CDMs.

“In order to support all civil servants who take part in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), the CDM Success Committee was formed on 27th April 2021 with Union Ministers, deputy Ministers, representatives from CRPH and an extensive network of CDMers. This committee submitted the September 2021 CDM Report to UN credential, published the one-year anniversary CDM Information Report and collected the CDM surveys.

About 4,000 million Myanmar Kyats was used to support the emergency needs of 20% of the CDM heroes out of all CDM heroes (210,639) connected with the CDM Success Committee. Ministries are also supporting the CDM staff of their relevant ministries,” it stated.

4. The spokesperson of the President’s Office said that China’s process of achieving stability in Myanmar needs to meet the will of the people of Myanmar

U Kyaw Zaw, spokesperson of the President’s Office, said that China’s process of achieving stability in Myanmar needs to meet the will of the Myanmar people. The spokesperson said this during the live broadcast of the press release marking the 2nd anniversary of the formation of the National Unity Government on May 3.

“We appreciate what China said to achieve stability in Myanmar and to respect Myanmar’s sovereignty. However, if the process of doing this does not meet the will of the people of Myanmar, it is not a positive thing but a negative thing, so we hope to make it meet the will of the people of Myanmar,” he said.

He also said that the National Unity Government has opened the way to dealing with all neighboring countries of Myanmar.

“Instability in Myanmar is threatening regional security, especially affecting neighboring countries. The terrorism military council is responsible for all of this,” said U Kyaw Zaw, a spokesperson for the President’s Office.

China’s foreign minister met with the terrorist leader in May and discussed the Myanmar issue.

5. Military leaders from generation to generations have always released political prisoners with limitations to overcome international pressure

U Lin Thant, NUG Czech representative, said on May 3 that successive military leaders always release political prisoners with limitations to overcome international pressure.

“Successive military leaders have tortured and arrested political prisoners and released them with limited restrictions in order to overcome international pressure. We must be aware of this. We are happy for those who were freed, but there are thousands of innocent people who are being arrested. In addition, 4 were executed by hanging, around 100 were tortured and killed, and over 3,000 people were killed by shooting bullets right into their heads during peaceful protests, including 400 minor children within 2 years. There have been a total of around 20,000 people who were killed by the military junta, including the mass killings in the village,” he said.

On May 3, the terrorist military council released 2,153 political prisoners charged under Section 505(a) with limitations.

“We must see through the difficulties of thousands of families who have no home to return to, some of whom have lost all of their families’ lives; tens of thousands of people who are suffering while fleeing the war; and refugees who have crossed the borders of other countries and are living in many difficulties without mental security,” said U Lin Thant again.

6. On receiving a report that Pyu members were traveling between Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp and Sokanteik Pyu Village in Myaing Township, PDF forces launched a mine attack, killing a police corporal and a Pyu member

On May 3, Myaing Township People’s Defense Force informed the military news that a police corporal and a Pyu member were killed in a landmine attack when they received information that Pyu were traveling between Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp and Sokanteik Pyu Village in Myaing Township, Magway Division.

“On May 2, Squadron-01 and Squadron-02 (Garuda) of Myaing Township People’s Defense Force Battalion-01, TYK Guerrilla Force, and Pyithu Arrman Defense Force, jointly launched a mine attack based on a tip by an insider that there were Pyu’s traveling between the Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp and Sokanteik Pyu Village. A police corporal and a Phu member were killed,” it stated.

In addition, Myaing PaKaHpa confirmed that they attacked junta soldiers and Pyu, who were surrounding the corpses again with 3 Enagas.

7. 3 junta soldiers were killed when the Thayarwaddy District PDF Battalion and allied forces attacked the terrorist military council column that invaded the camp hill of Tarwartaing Village, Okpho Township

On May 3, the Bago Region PDF announced that 3 junta soldiers were killed in an attack by the PDF Battalion of Thayarwaddy District and allied forces on a terrorist military council column that had invaded the camp hill of Tarwartaing Village, Okpho Township, Bago Division.

“On May 2, at 3:40 p.m., three members of the military council were killed when Squadron-04 of the Underground Guerrilla Force (Okpho) of Thayarwaddy District PDF Battalion-3802, attacked the column of the terrorist military council that was advancing to the camp hill from Tarwartaing Village, Wine Village Group, Okpho Township, with mines and 40 mm bombs.”

The 80-strong terrorist military council forces split into two columns from the old village of Chaungsauk, and Kaingchogyi to the camp hill of Tarwartaing Village and spread out in a “U” shape.

It is said that the column of the terrorist military council, which came from Kaingchogyi Village, was attacked by the people’s defense forces when they entered the minefield planted with 7 cluster landmines in advance.

It is said that the military council troops, who were in disarray due to the mine attack, were fired again with five 40-mm bombs.

“On May 2 at 9:30 p.m., near the Shwe Koepin Road in Tagaung District, a double-capped, four-wheeled white car was detonated with 4 mines. There were 7 junta soldiers in the car, 3 were killed and 3 were injured,” it stated.

The car also stopped and was destroyed, and the junta soldiers could not fire back. About half an hour later, fellow junta soldiers arrived and took them to Tagaung Hospital. The operation was carried out jointly by the Tagaung Defense Force and the Lightning Guerilla Force, and they were able to retreat without harm.
