Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun urged the international community not to let military’s atrocities continue

At Webinar on Myanmar titled “Responding to the Brutal, Escalating Crisis in Myanmar”, held on 3 August 2022,

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations remarked, “I wish to appeal to the international community for six main points:

  1. To suspend all international representation of the military junta and prevent any representative of the junta in any regional and international meetings and events;
  2. To cut the revenue streams of the inhumane military and its leader and affiliates effectively. It is also important to make sure that the countries in the region cooperate fully and strictly in this regard;
  3. ASEAN steps up further to end the military dictatorship in Myanmar including preventing any representative of the military junta in its meetings and reviewing Five-point Consensus;
  4. The United Nations, in particular, the UN Security Council act swiftly all possible measures including through utilization of the principle of R2P by sending troops and military supplies to the united ethnic and democratic forces;
  5. Taking the example of providing assistance to Ukraine, please provide needed assistance financially and in kind to the people of Myanmar; and
  6. Immediately recognize the NUG as a legitimate government of the people of Myanmar.”

In addition, the Ambassador also stated that the world had seen the worst brutality and inhumanity of Myanmar military constantly and the international community couldn’t continue ignoring Myanmar people desperate call for help.

People’s Security Forces are wanted to work together in unity for the safety of the public’s social life

On August 3, Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing wrote on social media to focus on the spring revolution. On 3August, during the meeting with the people’s security forces in Sagaing and Magway, Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt said,                                                                                                                        

“People’s Security Forces are wanted to work together in unity to ensure the safety of the public’s social life.”        

The Minister said

At present, there are nearly five hundred complaints of crimes committed by the military troops that have been reported to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration.

In rural cities, the military troops are committing arbitrary shootings, torture and beatings on civilians wherever they find them.

Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe says that the pressure of the international community corners the military council

During the NUG’s response program to public questions regarding the actions of the NUG government, Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe said,

“In the past, the UN Security Council could not even object to the coup. Now, the topic of Ko Jimmy and our other heroes becomes the reason for all of them to object. In fact, the military council is cornered by the pressure of the international community. They have lost their ways, no more way for them.”

Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe said,

It is learned that the military council is not invited and allowed to attend ASEAN meetings for the time being.

Official opening of the representative office of the National Unity Government in Canberra, Australia

On the evening of 3 August, the representative office of the National Unity Government was officially opened in Canberra, Australia.

High-level officials from the Austrian government and MPs attended the opening ceremony.

The opening of the representative office of the National Unity Government in Australia is considered to be a step towards improving diplomatic relations.

The newly opened representative office is the third office in the region after South Korea and Japan.

The Australian Greens, one of Australia’s major political parties, announced that the National Unity Government is recognized as the official government of Myanmar

This official announcement was made at the opening ceremony of the National Unity Government’s representative office in Australia held on 3 August.

The Australian Greens, one of Australia’s major political parties, announced at the ceremony that the Greens recognized the NUG as the official Myanmar government and encouraged other political parties to do the same.

Senior officials from Australia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Deputy High Commissioner of New Zealand to Australia also attended the ceremony.

Dr. Zachary Abuza, a professor at the National War College, in Washington, D.C., wrote in the prestigious publication, The Diplomat, that the best revolutionary fundraiser in the world is Myanmar

It was described by the United Bond in August.

“I’ve never seen the tech-savviness, creativity & seriousness of purpose than Myanmar’s NUG in fundraising the revolutionary struggles,”

said Dr. Zachary Abuza.

He also wrote the details of his view in The Diplomat, a prestigious magazine covering the current affairs of the countries of the Asia Pacific.

Dr. Zachary Abuza is a professor at the National War College, one of America’s third-longest military colleges, and has spent 30 years studying how sub-state actors fund their revolutionary struggles.

In his article, he praised the NUG for fundraising by eschewing the ubiquitous production and trade of illicit narcotics, even at a time when drugs are flooding out of the country.

The fundraising methods that Dr. Zachary Abuza praised include bond sales, the sale of EOD shares (the sale of assets), Nway Oo lotteries, NUGPay applications, and regular clicks.  

In accordance with the guidelines of the National Unity Government, the Federal Online School, run by the Seikphyu Township Board of Education, will be re-opened the classes

On 4 August, Seikphyu Township Board of Education announced,

“In accordance with the guidelines of the National Unity Government, the Federal Online School, run by the Seikphyu Township Board of Education, is about to re-open its classes, so the previous teachers should contact us via telegram, and CDM students who want to enroll in the school can read the rules carefully and submit.”

School enrollees will be contacted via Telegram, so it has been announced that they should check their Telegram accounts twice a day.

In the villages of Shwebo District, the households that do not perform sentry duty have to pay monthly pay protection money to the terrorist army

On 3 August, a resident of a village in Shwebo District confirmed to Mogyo News.

He said, “ They are stationed near the village. Households were armed and ordered to perform sentry duty at night in turn. Households that don’t want to perform sentry duty have to pay protection money. If there is a man in the household, it has to pay 220,000 kyats and 150,000 kyats for the household with only women.”

It is reported that the rates of these fees have been set starting from June, and previously only ten thousand to twenty thousand kyats per household was paid per month.

The resident also said, “We have to pay monthly. So, those people who cannot pay or do not want to pay have fled the village.”
