The displaced people of Myaing Township, Magway Division, were provided with a 1 million Myanmar kyat donation and fed food in order to commemorate the 71st birthday of Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann.

On April 23, it was reported that the food was donated to commemorate the 71st birthday of Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann.

“To commemorate the 71st birthday of Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, a donation of 1 million Myanmar kyats was given to the displaced people of Myaing Township, Magway Division,” according to the records.

In addition, food donations were made to the people’s defense forces.

2. The Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) held a meeting with the people’s administrative bodies of the Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady, and Bago Divisions

On April 23, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the people’s administrative bodies of Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady and Bago Divisions (16/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, Ministry of Labour, and member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, relevant officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady and Bago Divisions.

“Since the illegal coup, due to the military’s atrocities against the people, more than 3422 people are brutally killed. Over 1.4 million people are displaced. Almost 18 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Half of the population is living under the national poverty line. Increased displacement, heavy job losses in MSMEs and disrupted education have created low level of human capital. Sadly, all sectors including finance, banking and economic sectors are now in disarray,” said the ambassador.

The ambassador also added, “Myanmar is fully committed to strengthening social protection systems to reduce inequalities, eradicate poverty, build resilience to climate change and support transitions to sustainable growth. Regrettably, our potential for inclusive growth and implementing the SDGs has been curtailed by the military’s attempted coup and its ongoing campaign of terror.”

4. NUG Ministry of Labour informed and encouraged people to participate in the World Labour Day (May Day) movement

“Next May 1st is World Labour Day (May Day) and we pay our respects to the labor heroes who have fought for the rights and entitlements of workers for ages. In Myanmar, the terrorist army has seized power illegally and is oppressing the entire population in various ways. Human rights and labor rights are also being severely damaged,” it stated.

Therefore, with the determination to eradicate all the actions of the terrorist military and the dictatorial system, on May Day 2023, with the slogan “United Voice of Workers, Fight for a Federal Future”, the Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government will accelerate the Spring Revolution and the struggle for labor rights in cooperation with the labor unions and allied organizations.

In 2023, on World Labour Day (2023 May Day), workers at home and abroad are encouraged to join the May Day campaign by wearing slogan T-shirts.

5. The NUG Ministry of Labour has blacklisted and dismissed non-CDM officers and staff from Myanmar Railways Enterprise, the Ministry of Transport and Communications 

The NUG Ministry of Labour has blacklisted and dismissed non-CDM officers and staff from Myanmar Railways Enterprise, the Ministry of Transport and Communications. 

On April 23, the NUG Ministry of Labour issued Statement No. (2/2023).

It is said that the National Unity Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has repeatedly invited civil servants to not continue to serve under the terrorist military council and to stand on the side of truth, be one with the people, and participate in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).

The NUG has been making efforts to ensure the social welfare, safety, and pressure relief of civil servants who participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) from various ministries.

Therefore, the Ministry of Labour blacklisted and dismissed 206 employees and staff who continue to serve the military council-controlled Myanmar Railway Enterprise, Ministry of Transports and Communications, on charges of harassing, intimidating, and dismissing CDM staff and demanding the repayment of COVID-19 assistance packages granted by the NLD government before the military coup, which do not have to be paid in accordance with the law.

In the dismissal statement, the names of 206 officers and staff were announced.

6. Terrorist junta troops in LIB-274, Mindat, opened fire towards Mindat Township’s Ward No. 3 with heavy weapons, damaging schools and civilian houses

Terrorist junta troops in LIB-274, Mindat, Chin State, fired indiscriminately towards Mindat Township’s Ward No. 3 with heavy weapons, damaging schools and civilian houses. On April 23, Chin Defense Force -Mindat informed.

“At 4:00 p.m. on 22.4.2023, the terrorist junta troops in LIB-274, Mindat, fired indiscriminately with large weapons towards Mindat Township’s Ward No. 3, causing damage to schools and civilian houses,” it stated.

On April 23, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., they fired indiscriminately at Mindat Township Ward No. 2 with large weapons with the intention of harming the people.

Therefore, civilians in Mindat Township are advised to live cautiously in order to protect themselves from the heavy weapons of the terrorist junta troops and minimize the damage.

7. The junta troops in the village of Aungkone, Indaw Township burned down houses in the village

The Indaw Revolution-IR confirmed on April 23 that junta troops in Aungkone Village, Indaw Township, Sagaing Division, burned down the houses in the village.

“It is known that although there is no fighting, the junta troops in Aungkone Village are setting fire to the houses in Aungkone Village,” it stated.

Currently, it is reported that local villagers and people from nearby villages are fleeing.

As of April 10, 2023, according to the latest figures from the United Nations, the number of internally displaced people across Myanmar has reached over 1.8 million.

Of these, nearly 1.5 million people have fled their homes due to the conflict and insecurity that occurred after the February 2021 coup.

8. Five junta troops were injured by a mine near Sharchaung Village when the column in Yawkone, Kawlin Township returned from their marching

“On April 22, a mine was hit near the village of Sharchaung when the junta column in Yawkone turned their marching back. It is known that the PaKaHpa had exploded the mine, and there were 5 junta troops injured,” it stated.

Currently, the junta troops are often facing guerrilla attacks in Sagaing Division.

“The terrorist junta convoy returning from the Thit Poke Tower Base Camp at Thit Poke Village Group, Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Division and heading towards Paukkhaung, was intercepted between Ma Yoe Kyun Village and Doe Nwe Village by the Eagle Column containing the joint forces of group-2 of the Squadron-1, Squadron-3, Squadron-4 and Squadron-5 of the Battalion-3601 of Pyay District and Paungde Township PDF (PPDF) on April 21 at 4:15 p.m.

During the interception, the foremost car contained civilians, and we let the car pass. A car and two motorcycles containing a major that drove in the vicinity of the civilian car were attacked, and 3 junta soldiers were killed and 3 were seriously injured.

As the terrorist military council returned fire with small arms and heavy weapons, the battle ensued for about 20 minutes, and one comrade of the People Defence Force got a minor injury.

In the interception, a captain was among the 3 dead from the terrorist military council, and a major was among the 3 who were seriously injured and is now receiving emergency medical treatment.”
