Meeting with the NUG Interim Local Administration Central Committee and Public Administration Organizations of the Special Administrative Region
On November 6, the National Unity Government, Interim Local Administration Central Committee, and Public Administration Organizations of the Special Administrative Region held a meeting (33/2022). In the meeting, Dr. Tu Hkawng, Union Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, gave opening remarks, and attending Union Ministers said greetings.
Next, departments clarified activities by each sector within the special administrative region such as finance, electricity, communication, tax collection, defense, health, education, and judiciary, including natural resources and environmental conservation. Then, Public Administration Bodies of special administrative regions mutually discussed the difficulties they are facing on the ground and what they wanted to know. The meeting was attended by leaders from the Public Administration Bodies of special administrative regions, members and ministers from relevant Ministries, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Director Generals, and Directors.

The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) attended the 12th Consultative Assembly of Parliamentarians on the International Criminal Court and the Rule of Law. The delegation led by, U Aung Kyi Nyunt, the chairperson of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, attended the CAP-ICC meeting via video conference, hosted by the National Congress of Argentina in Buenos Aires, was held on 4-5 November 2022. On November 5, the chairperson of the CRPH participated in a discussion with the topic “The Role of Legislators in Atrocity-Prevention: Democratic Backsliding, a Precursor to gross Human Rights Violations?”.
“There are threats to democracy in the world, along with human rights violations and genocide. Crimes against humanity are being committed on a wide scale and the lack of rule of law and the impunity of the perpetrators of the crime from legal punishment and accountability; security and the right to life in the world will be threatened if effective punishments are not taken against those who commit international crimes,” he discussed in the meeting. The chairperson of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw along with the chairperson of the International Relations Committee, Daw Myat Thida Tun, secretary U Tin Ko Ko Oo, and member U Bone Kyaw attended the forum and conference meetings.

Deputy Minister Maw Tun Aung said that in order to improve the social status, the benefits related to labor rights must be provided to cover all workers. The Deputy Minister wrote on social media regarding labor issues in November. “In changing the system, labor rights and social welfare related matters cannot be changed. Basic labor rights and social welfare are the most important matters in measuring the development of a country. In order to improve social status, the benefits related to labor rights such as health system, five days a week workplace, adult education, unemployment benefits, maternity leave for parents, must be covered by all workers,” he said.
