Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the National Unity government, do not receive salary benefits except 100 lakhs of the Ministry’s fund

It is reported that Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the National Unity government, do not receive salary benefits except 100 lakhs of the Ministry’s fund. In October, one CDM teacher wrote a letter accusing that a NUG deputy minister receives 60,000 baht in salary.

According to a reply to Ma Shwe Moe (Korea) from the spokesperson of NUG’s Ministry of Planning and Investment, even though funding for each ministry is set at 100 lakhs, it is only for office expenses. It is reported that deputy ministers are not entitled to a salary.

“Office expenses are given to ministries. Some ministries support CDMs with these expenses,” said Daw Ei Ei Pyone, Secretary of the Public Affairs Committee (Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw). A political analyst also said that even though there are accusations written against members of the National Unity Government on social media, these are only unsubstantiated claims.

It is possible that the CDM could not be done due to various reasons until now. However, it is also possible that there is a new way to do it because they were not allowed to leave the army. Because most of the soldiers really want to be officially discharged. They do not want to participate in CDM, but they want to leave officially from the army,” he said. Currently, if everyone who escapes from the army is recaptured, they can be sentenced to at least 5 years in prison by the military council.
