1.  Acting President Duwa Lashi La and Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann attend the Webinar to mark International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict

The National Unity Government held a webinar on June 26 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict and Acting President Duwa Lashi La and Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann delivered speeches at the webinar.

Acting President Duwa Lashi La said the following in his speech: “In Myanmar, for many years and during this spring revolution, the military has committed sexual assaults, and they are the terrorist organisation that has had impunity. The National Unity Government is striving to bring the terrorist military to international justice for the sexual assault they committed.”

Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann remarked in his speech, “For ages, people have been suffering from the sexual violence committed by the terrorist military, and people have had to face its dire consequences with difficulty. Therefore, I would like to say that we stand together with all survivors of sexual violence. The courage and resilience of these survivors are a powerful inspiration and motivation for all of us to make changes.”

The National Unity Government is assisting victims of sexual assault by terrorist military personnel in relocating and offering support and legal assistance.

2. The Union Prime Minister says that Phase 3 of the One-Year Plan has begun

At the Cabinet Meeting No. 21/2023 of the National Unity Government held on June 27, Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khing Thann stated that Phase 3 of the One-Year Plan has begun.

“The next thing I want to say is about the One-Year Plan. I know that the Ministerial Meeting has systematically discussed it twice and is now reviewing it, so I would like to urge the ministers to continue working carefully to complete it. We are now in Phase 3 of the One-Year Plan, as you are all aware, and it is time to carefully observe the strategic goals that we discussed eight months ago, taking into account both their strengths and shortcomings,” Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann said.

The meeting was attended by Acting President Duwa Lashi La, Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, along with Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Permanent Secretaries.

3. The Union Minister of Women, Youths and Children’s Affairs says that of the 117 cases of sexual violence, 108 were committed by military council members

At the webinar held by the National Unity Government on June 26 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, Union Minister of Women, Youths and Children’s Affairs, said: “Among the 117 cases of sexual violence, 108 were committed by military council members and 9 were committed by civilians. In addition to this, there are also cases that were committed by the revolutionary forces. There are 13 cases reported to us. Our justice ministry immediately takes action on cases that can be taken, and on cases committed by military council members, we record them and send them to the United Nations special investigation.”

The Union Minister went on to explain that young males were among the sexual violence victims, and the ministry looked into not only complaint cases but also popular cases and provided assistance to victims.

4. Union Minister Nai Suwunna attends the meeting between the Interim Local Administrative Central Committee (ILACC) and township administrative bodies in Sagaing Region

The meeting No. 25/2023 between the Interim Local Administrative Central Committee (ILACC) and township administrative bodies in Sagaing Region was held on June 26 via Zoom Platform.

Nai Suwunna, member of the ILACC and Union Minister for Labour, delivered opening remarks at the meeting.

Responsible individuals from various ministries gave explanations relevant to each ministry, and then representatives of the township administrative bodies asked questions about the policies, guidelines, and processes of each ministry and reported challenges encountered on the ground.

5. The junta troops were ambushed in Paungde, resulting in two deaths and four critical injuries

On June 27, the Pyay District PDF Battalion No. 3601 (the Paungde People’s Defence Force—PPDF) released military news that it had ambushed the terrorist junta troops, which resulted in two deaths and four serious injuries.

“On June 25, at around 10:15 a.m., the 1st company (Tiger Column) of the Pyay District PDF Battalion No. 3601 (the Paungde People’s Defence Force—PPDF) ambushed the terrorist military troops who were resting in two farm huts near Kyun Pin Bu, located between Let Pan Khon village and Ma Au Kwin village in Thit Pote village tract, Pyay Township, Bago Region,” the PPDF stated.

Two terrorist junta soldiers were reportedly killed on the spot as a result of the attack, while four others were critically injured.

“The fighting lasted for 5 to 10 minutes, and the terrorist military troops returned fire with both heavy and small weapons, but the members of the people’s defence forces managed to attack them without receiving any harm,” the PPDF continued.

When the defence forces searched the area after the terrorist military troops had left, they discovered ammunition, military uniforms, and blood-stained bandages, according to the report.

6. In Taungtha Township, the junta troops abducted civilians from Hle Ku Ma village

According to the Taungtha news and media, on June 27, around 5:00 a.m., the military council troops stationed in Za Yat Gyi village came in five motorcycles and arrested four people from Hle Ku Ma village, including Ko Kyaw Swa Win.

Following Ko Phoe Aye’s arrest the day before, Ko Kyaw Swa Win, Ma Su Kyi Hlaing and his father U Tin Maung Tun and U Kyaw Aye were arrested again.

Residents of Hle Ku Ma village were forewarned to exercise caution since there was a military informant and a list of people to be arrested from the village.

7. The completion ceremony of a military training for female comrades of the Monywa District PDF Battalion No. 5 (Aung San Force—ASF) was held

The completion ceremony of batch 2 military training for female comrades of the Monywa District PDF Battalion No. 5 (Aung San Force—ASF) was held on June 26.

The Battalion Commander, the Deputy Battalion Commander, Company Commanders of the Monywa District PDF Battalion No. 5, and leaders of the allied forces and battalions attended the ceremony.
