1. Ministry of Defense Issues Warning About Fraudulent Messages Using the PDF Name to Extort Fees
The Ministry of Defense issued a warning on September 13 regarding fraudulent messages being distributed using the name of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) to extort money from businesses and the public. The statement revealed that individuals aiming to undermine the People’s Revolution are sending letters, audio files, and videos in the name of various PDF battalions, columns, and People’s Defense Forces (PDF), demanding money through threats. These fraudulent messages are also being distributed online.
The Ministry confirmed that these messages are not from the PDF units under its control and are, in fact, being orchestrated by collaborators of the military junta to tarnish the reputation of the People’s Revolution.
The Ministry urged business owners and the public to verify the authenticity of any such messages by contacting the Ministry of Defense via email at office@modnugmm.org or the Complaints Committee at cc@mod.nugmyanmar.org.
If any action is found to have been taken by PDF units or their members, the Ministry stated that strict disciplinary action would be enforced according to the military code of conduct.
