1. Deputy Minister of Defence visited Southern Regional Sub-Military Region 3 for inspection
It was reported on May 18 that Deputy Minister U Nai Kao Rot, Ministry of Defence, National Unity Government, visited the People’s Defence Force (PDF) columns in the Sub-Military Region 3 of Southern Regional Command.
The Ministry of Defence announced that during the trip, they inspected the PDF columns operating in the Southern Military Region and gave moral support to the revolutionary comrades.
2. AA captured all military council camps in Buthidaung Township
The Arakan Army-AA announced on the afternoon of May 18 that it had captured all military council camps in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State.
The last remaining military camps of the fascist terrorist Military Council in Buthidaung, including the Buthidaung Strategic Headquarters, strategic battalions, artillery battalion, logistics battalion, and some Buthidaung-based battalions under the ROC-Sittwe (Sittwe Regional Operations Command), were all captured at about 12:00 noon on May 18, AA stated.
It is said that the military council battalion headquarters that were captured this time were Buthidaung Strategic Headquarters, No. 378 Artillery Battalion, LIB-234, LIB-345, LIB-352, Artillery Battalion, Logistic Battalion, and GE Battalion.
The military council battalions that were captured on May 14 were LIB-353, LIB-535, LIB-263, and LIB-233; on May 13, Border Guard Battalion NaKhaKha-3; and on May 16, NaKhaKha -8.
The AA has also informed that although all military council camps in Buthidaung Township have been captured, fighting continues around Buthidaung since they are chasing down the fleeing military council troops from the battalions under the military council and Rohingya troops who have been trained by the military council.
In addition, the military council troops are fleeing headfirst into the villages and Buthidaung town, where they think they will be freed, so AA urges the villagers around Buthidaung to live with military alertness.
3. The KIA-led revolutionary forces captured 5 military camps in the attack on military council camps in Waingmaw Township
According to military sources, the KIA-led revolutionary forces captured 5 military camps in the attack on the military council camps in Waingmaw Township of Kachin State.
KIA and PDF joint forces have been simultaneously attacking 10 military council camps in Waingmaw Township, including Kazu, Dabat, Garyaryang, Shwe Nyaungpin, IB-321, Deinga, Laihpawng, Bentpukawng, and Aung Myay-1, starting at 5:00 a.m. on May 18.
The Shwe Min militia camp in Shwe Nyaungpin has also been captured. The militia camp and the military camp in Aung Myau-1 have also been captured, according to military sources.
In addition, at around 2:00 p.m., the RaTaMa 438 camp in Wahtaungbum, Waingmaw Township, had been captured, another news source said.
The military council is fighting back with heavy weapons and aerial support to prevent losing territory, so the fighting is still intense until around 5:30 p.m. on May 18.
There were also reports that a military helicopter was shot down in the morning of May 18 in Shwe Nyaungpin in Waingmaw Township where the fighting was fierce, but there was no confirmation from the KIA until around 6:00 p.m.
KIA-led revolutionary joint forces launched offensive attacks in Kachin State since March 7, and have captured nearly 100 military camps under the military council, according to military news reports.
4. The military council camp in Ward No. 5 of Shwebo Town where the military council troops from training school-8 are stationed was attacked
Buffalo Soldiers Freedom Force released the military news that on May 17, at 5:30 a.m., they attacked the military council camp in Ward No. 5 of Shwebo Town, Shwebo District, Sagaing Division, where the military council troops from training school-8 were stationed.
It was reported that they attacked with one front mine and opened fire with automatic rifles and machine guns, and the fighting lasted for about 15 minutes. Although the military council fired back, revolutionary comrades were able to successfully retreat without any casualties. During the battle, 3 military council soldiers were killed on the spot, and many injured.
The attack was carried out jointly by the Buffalo Soldiers Freedom Force (Assault Team), and an allied force, the Taw Kyeekan People’s Defense Force.
5. The general administration office and Myoma police station of Minhla Township were bombed
Yoma Phoenix Drone Force, which is the drone unit of Tharrawaddy District Battalion 3802 of No. 2 Sub-Military Region of Southern Military Regional Command, bombed the general administration office of Minhla Township with 1 drop bomb at 12:25 a.m. on 18.5.2024, and Minhla Myoma police station with 1 drop bomb at 2:20 a.m.
The casualties and damage caused by the bomb attack are still being investigated, and it is reported that one of the military’s scout drones was damaged due to mechanical failure.
It has been warned that in the future, military council camps and other military target areas will be attacked, so the public is warned not to travel or live near these areas.
6. Myaing was attacked by about 50 forces, dividing into three groups
Black Leopard Army released the military news that on May 17, at around 5:00 p.m., revolutionary forces led by the Black Leopard Army – Myaing Company, entered Myaing with a force of about 50, dividing into three groups. At about 5:30 p.m., the two sides fought with small arms which lasted for about 1 hour, and then they retreated at about 6:30 p.m.
The casualties of the enemy during the clash are still under investigation, and a revolutionary comrade was injured (not seriously).
The attack was carried out cooperatively by Yinmarbin District Battalion 11, Yinmarbin District Battalion 11 Company-4 (La Yaung People’s Defense Force), Bo Steel Force, Ko Mike Kae Force, Kyar Pauk Force, and Hundred Mine Bo Pyaung Force.
7. The military council soldiers who came out of the camp at Sitagu monastery in Yinmarbin were attacked, killing 6 soldiers
Cho Mai Mai Yinmarbin Township Coalition released the military news that the military council soldiers coming out of the camp at Sitagu monastery to bully and extort money from the passersby at the Monywa-Pathein intersection in Yinmarbin Township, Yinmarbin District, Sagaing Division, were attacked, killing 6 soldiers.
On May 17, at around 6:00 a.m., the military council soldiers coming out of the Sitagu monastery camp were attacked with close fire, killing 6 soldiers and seizing 6 guns and related ammunition.
The attack was carried out cooperatively by the Cho Mai Mai Yinmarbin Township Coalition and Dragon Brother Task Force – DBTF.
The place where the battle took place was between the military council’s Aung Zeya Veterans Force (Tatkon), Police Battalion (28), and Sitagu monastery camp. A comrade from joint revolutionary forces was reported injured.
The report stated that they had to take time in advance to prepare for this operation, and they fired and attacked from a distance of about 10 meters with 15 special commandos who were fully trained.
7. At least 7 local residents were injured as the military opened fire on Thonse Village in Nawnghkio Township
The PSLF/TNLA News and Information Department announced on May 18 that at least 7 local people were injured when the military council troops fired heavy weapons at Thonse Village in Nawnghkio Township in northern Shan State.
At 9:00 p.m. on May 15, the military council troops stationed near Shwe Nyaungpin Village fired at least 6 times with heavy weapons at Thonse Village of Nawnghkio Township, Ta’ang State Brigade-2 Military Region. As a result of the heavy weapon firing, a total of 7 men and women were injured and 2 houses were damaged. Of the 7 injured people, 3 were taken to Pyin Oo Lwin Hospital due to serious injuries, and the remaining 4 were taken to Monglon General Hospital for medical treatment.
On April 27 and May 10, the military council troops fired heavy weapons at Thonse Village, killing 2 civilians, seriously injuring 5, and damaging their homes.
The military council troops have been continuously firing heavy weapons at civilian areas that are not military targets in Ta’ang State.
