The National Unity Government (NUG) extends its utmost appreciation to the expatriate Myanmar migrant workers who stood against the terrorist military council. In a statement released on December 20, the NUG acknowledges the efforts of these workers in protesting against the tax collection plan imposed by the terrorist military council.
Recognizing their role as Myanmar migrant workers, the NUG commends their decisive actions in preventing remittances from reaching the terrorist military council. By actively participating in financial warfare, these workers have displayed their unwavering commitment to the cause. The NUG expresses its profound gratitude and bestows honor upon these individuals residing in various countries.
The NUG government reveals that the military council, currently facing defeat on all fronts, intends to collect taxes from migrant workers as a means to prolong their regime and continue their violent actions against the populace. Additionally, it has come to light that the Ministry of Labor, the Military Council’s Central Bank, and banks supporting the military are collaborating to exploit the labor of overseas Myanmar migrant workers by all means necessary.
According to the statement, the terrorist military council issued a directive on August 30 instructing foreign employment agencies to transfer 25 percent of migrant workers’ family remittances on a monthly or quarterly basis through designated remittance services.
Furthermore, it has been reported that due to the strong determination of expatriate Myanmar migrant workers to challenge the authority of the illegal terrorist military council, remittances from these workers to Myanmar have significantly decreased, amounting to a tenth of their previous levels.
The NUG also reveals that the passionate civil disobedience exhibited by Myanmar migrant workers has resulted in a substantial decline in foreign currency available to the terrorist military council. This has created a crisis for the continuation of terrorist acts.
