1. The Acting President said that the military led by Min Aung Hlaing is unethical and despised by the entire public and will soon be destroyed
On October 10, Acting President Duwa Lashi La said this during a meeting between officials of the National Unity Government and the military officials leading on the ground.
“The military led by Min Aung Hlaing is unethical and despised by the entire public. This is a strong sign that this terrorist military will soon be destroyed and come to an end. The future army we are aiming for will be professionals who are full of talent, obey orders, and fully follow laws and rules. It is an army that will protect the country and its people with solidified loyalty,” the Acting President said.
The terrorist military killed more than 4,000 people and arrested more than 20,000 people.
The Ministry of Defence Minister, Deputy Minister and officials, Ministry of Defence Headquarters officials, along with People’s Defence Force (PDF) officials from the military region, Regional Military Command, and regional military departments, and officials from the People’s Defence Force (PaKaFa) of the state/division/district, and a total of 140 people participated in the meeting.
2. Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann attended the meeting of the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC)
On the morning of October 12, the meeting of the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) (41/2023) was held.
At the meeting, Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, chair of the ILACC, gave an opening speech.
“The more crises the terrorist military faces, the more targeted attacks it will carry out against civilians, so we should not be the least bit negligent in ensuring their safety. Minimizing harm to the people must be considered and managed as our most important process. We do not want the military to rule the people with fear of relying on weapons, so even in this crisis, we are implementing the public administration mechanism. In addition, I would like the relevant officials to carefully convey to the people’s soldiers that the revolutionary movement is for the liberation of the people from the hands of the military dictators, that the people must be protected from the cruel and brutal terrorist war council, and that the people’s interests should be put first,” said the prime minister.
Following, attending members of the ILACC explained the completion status of the activities adopted at the meeting (18/2023), future plans and processes that needed to proceed, and the relevant officials discussed them extensively.
Led by Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and officials from ministries attended the meeting.
3. Stationery were provided to local war refugees from the villages of Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region
The Ministry of Women, Youths and Children Affairs of the National Unity Government has provided stationery to local war refugees from the villages of Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region.
It is reported that on October 11, 2023, the township MOWYCA officials of the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Women, Youths and Children Affairs and ward/village in charge provided stationery, including exercise books, to local war refugees from the villages of Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region.
On October 10, necessary health care to the IDPs in Htilin Township, Sagaing Region, and treated the students with chicken porridge.
4. The military junta is exploiting humanitarian assistance and using it as a weapon of war
Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations, stated that in the statement under Agenda Item 134: Proposed programme budget for 2024 at the Fifth Committee of the Seventy-Eighth session of UN General Assembly, held on 10 October 2023.
“As the military junta is exploiting humanitarian assistances and using it as a weapon of war, we request all humanitarian and development partners to carefully take into account of this important factor and explore viable ways in extending life-saving assistances to the people in need. We believe that important humanitarian mandates can be meaningfully implemented only through trusted partners,” Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated.
He also stated, “The conditions in Myanmar remain dire in every sector. To date, over 4100 people were brutally killed by the military. According to OCHA, the total number of internally displaced persons in Myanmar has reached almost 2 million. 18 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. The humanitarian situation is extremely worrisome.”
5. ABSDF, KNU and CNF expressed their common opinion in a joint statement that the military’s repeated vicious attacks that target civilians reinforce our position that the NCA is no longer valid
On October 12, the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Chin National Front (CNF), and Karen National Union (KNU) released the Joint Statement Regarding the 8th Anniversary of the Signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). In the statement, they expressed their common position regarding the coup makers’ commemoration of the 8th anniversary of the NCA signing and the fake peace talks supposedly based on the NCA.
It stated, “The military coup destroyed the basic principles and objectives of the NCA well as nullified the 2008 Constitution. Therefore, the implementation of the NCA and the NCA-based political dialogue process came to a halt.
The military’s repeated vicious attacks that target civilians by using its Army, Air Force and Navy are a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law. This reinforces our position that the NCA is no longer valid and demonstrates that the military has abandoned peaceful means to resolve political problems.”
Therefore, it also stated, “We urge the international governments and the entire people of the country, including the NCA signatories, to support the implementation process of our proposed political objectives without participating in the activities of the military that prolong the military dictatorship.”
6. In three months, 56 women were killed by the terrorist military, including 6 by airstrikes and 30 by heavy weapons explosions
On October 12, the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) informed that 56 women were killed by the terrorist military in three months, including 6 by airstrikes and 30 by heavy weapons explosions.
In the three months from July 2023 to September 28, 2023, according to the lists compiled by the Burmese Women’s Union with based on the data collected by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a total of 56 women were killed.
Among those 56 women, a total of 6 women died from air strikes, 30 women died from explosions, 1 was arrested and killed, 3 were burned alive, 13 women were shot dead, 1 was raped and killed, and 2 were beaten to death.
7. A clash broke out between the junta troops that were planting landmines and the Student’s Revolutionary Force (S.R.F.)
A clash broke out between the Student’s Revolutionary Force (S.R.F.) and the junta troops, who were planting landmines in Mingin Township.
“On October 11 at around 10:00 a.m., a clash broke out with the junta troops while a guerrilla platoon of our Student’s Revolutionary Force (S.R.F) patrolled the area upon receiving information that the junta troops had invaded the area and planted landmines.
After the enemy retreated about half an hour of the battle, they opened fire with heavy weapons. Defense comrades returned fire with 60-mm grenade launchers and hit Pyu Saw Htee Village, Inngyin Taung Village, and the junta guard post of that village,” it stated.
The casualties on the enemy’s side have not yet been confirmed, but 3 of the enemy’s landmines were seized, and one defense comrade got a non-critical injury when he stepped on a landmine.
8. Soe Aung, the leader of Pyu Saw Htee, a major supporter of the terrorist military council, was shot dead near the market in the center of Thaegon
On October 12, the Bago Sub-Military Region informed that Soe Aung, the leader of Pyu Saw Htee, a major supporter of the terrorist military council, was shot and killed near the market in the center of Thaegon.
“Soe Aung, a major supporter of the terrorist military council, was shot 3 times by Platoon 3 (Wisdom Group) of Company 3 of PDF Battalion 3601 as part of the Nan Htike Aung operation, near the market in the center of Thaegon Town on October 12 at 6:30 a.m., in Thaegon Township, Pyay District, Bago Region,” it stated.
As a result of the shooting, Soe Aung, the leader of Pyu Saw Htee, died on the spot, and the revolutionary comrades were able to carry out the operation successfully without any harm.
Soe Aung is not only a major supporter of the terrorist military council, but he is also the leader of Pyu Saw Htee.
9. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia by the military junta, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death
It was stated in the “Daily Briefing in Relation to the Military Coup” by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma) updated on October 12, 2023.
It stated, “Since the coup, a total of (25,298) people have been arrested by the junta in relation to its seizure of power, (19,685) are currently in detention, (7,720) of whom are serving sentences.
There are a total of (113) post-coup death row prisoners as of October 12, 2023. (119) people have been sentenced in absentia, of whom (43) have been sentenced to death. This makes a total of (156) people who have been sentenced to death.”
