On July 21, regarding private banks, Home Affairs and Immigration Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt exhorted the populace to ensure that their money does not turn into blood money.

“It is important that our people’s white money is not stained with blood. Bank entrepreneurs are dying under the military council. They have grown attached to their assets with inextricable bonds. Now, they can’t hide, they can’t escape, they have no choice, and there is no place to run. So, they started supporting the military junta using public money. People deposit their money on the banks of these men. They are using this money to buy Treasury bonds sold by the military council and fill the military council’s deficit,” said the Union Minister.

On July 20, the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment officially introduced the Spring Development Bank (SDB), and it will start operating in Thai baht, Singapore dollars, US dollars, and Myanmar kyats, and will focus on user security.

“Since we know that they are using our own money to kill our own people, then we have to cut the financial chain of these terrorists. Even the United States has sanctioned two military council banks, MFTB Bank and MICB Bank, and while cutting off the routes for the military council to purchase military equipment, the crony banks that are helping to operate the military council’s financial system using public deposits will also be held accountable. The people also need to carefully consider whether their white money will turn into blood money and act decisively with a firm decision,” said the Union Minister.

At present, some private banks in the country are experiencing security breaches and distrust, and bank accounts are being closed at any time due to the control of the military council.
