1. Acting President Duwa Lashi La said that the National Unity Government is building the federal system as a standard value

During the official introduction ceremony of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council (IEC) in June, the Acting President of the National Unity Government Duwa Lashi La said the following:

“Since we as the National Unity Government are building the federal system as a standard value, we believe that the Karenni State Interim Executive Council will be a great support for the new federal democratic union in the future. Therefore, I would like to say that Karenni State will be an important center for the new federal union. I hope that the Karenni State Interim Executive Council will be a paradigm for other states.” 

In addition, the Acting President said that he hopes that he will be able to work more cohesively and in unity with similar interim administrative councils that will emerge.

2. Condemnation of the Brutal Moebya Massacre by the Genocidal Military Junta (SAC) in Myanmar

On June 14, Union Minister Dr. Sasa, Ministry of International Cooperation, issued a statement of condemnation for the brutal massacre of 26 innocent villagers in Moebya, southern Shan State of Myanmar.

“We strongly condemn the heinous actions of the genocidal military junta (SAC) for their brutal massacre of 26 innocent villagers in Moebya, southern Shan State of Myanmar. Between 6 and 8 June 2023, 14 villagers were mercilessly shot and killed by the military regime in the northern part of Moebya, near a pagoda. Additionally, during the same time, 12 more innocent lives were lost due to mortar fire from the genocidal military junta in the Moebya area,” it stated.

It also stated, “The military junta must be held accountable for their atrocious crimes against humanity. We call upon the international community, particularly Myanmar’s neighbouring countries, to use all available means to put an end to these acts of crimes against humanity and ensure that the perpetrators face justice.”

3. Union Minister for Human Rights U Aung Myo Min met with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)

On June 13, the Myanmar delegation, including U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights, U Kyaw Soe Moe, International Relations Officer of the Ministry of Labor, and Daw Khaing Zar Aung, a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM), met with Owen Tudor, Global Deputy Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Shoya Yoshida, Secretary General of the ITUC Asia-Pacific Region, in Geneva, Switzerland.

In that meeting, the process of NUG’s Ministry of Human Rights being able to cooperate with the ILO’s Commission of Inquiry investigating the violations of Freedom of Association and Forced Labor committed by the Military Council in Myanmar; cooperation with the Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM), Myanmar Labour Alliance (MLA), and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) to ensure that NUG is recognized as the legitimate government of Myanmar by international organizations and governments, including the ILO; and other measures, including more effective economic sanctions, were discussed.

After that, the Myanmar delegation of the National Unity Government and CTUM representatives met with Ambet Yuson, Secretary General of Building and Wood Worker’s International (BWI), and Kemal Özkan, Deputy Secretary General of International Federation of Energy, Metals and Manufacturing Trade Unions (IndustriALL), together with the ITUC delegation.

In that meeting, they discussed the issues for trade unions to do to stop the flow of income from the energy sector to the military council, to work through insurance companies to block the sale of aviation fuel, and economic sanctions to stop the flow of money into Myanmar.

4. Meeting held between the NUG Ministry and the CRPH Committee so that the lists of human rights violations can be more added connectively not only with divisions and states but also with townships

The Public Affairs Committee, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government, held a meeting on June 8 (Tuesday) at 14:30 via video conference regarding collaborative processes for the urgent needs of the people, including the blatant violations of human rights by the terrorist military council that the people are facing every day.

At the meeting, Daw Phyu Phyu Thin, secretary member of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, said in the opening speech, “It has been more than 2 years since the revolution, and we are all tired, but the military council is more tired than we are. We should be more cooperative than now, go to the end and struggle with full strength as this is the most important time.” 

Following, Dr. Khin Soe Soe Kyi, Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee, clarified the purpose of the meeting, “We will discuss in what ways we will cooperate for the needs of the people as much as possible.”

After that, the Deputy Minister of Human Rights, U Khun Baham Htan, explained the ministry’s operative strategies, local and international cooperation, drafting human rights policies and establishing training courses. The minister also added that they have systematically organized the information gathering, collection, and recording of the human rights violations and abuses by the terrorist military junta against the people, and are working with the media and the international community to find out more atrocities and to be able to bring justice at a certain time.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Human Rights U Khun Baham Htan, Secretary Member of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Daw Phyu Phyu Thin, Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee and other members and officials.

5. The Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) held a meeting with the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions

On June 14, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions (18/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Labour U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, a member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, officials from ministries explained the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Nai Suwunna, Deputy Minister U Khu Hte Bu, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions.

On June 14, NUG Australia representative Dr. Htun Aung Shwe said that Min Aung Hlaing and the military junta have already failed.

“The world has seen that Min Aung Hlaing and his military junta have already failed. What the world wants to know now is whether the NUG and the powerful EROs can coordinate and govern the country without becoming a power vacuum,” he said.

Currently, many military junta’s lobbyists are spreading propaganda to divide between the EROs and NUG, including the revolutionary forces.

7. A liberation and peace demonstration will be held in Korea on the 78th birthday of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

The Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) announced on June 14 that a liberation and peace protest will be held in Korea on the 78th birthday of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

“On the occasion of the 78th birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counselor of the National Unity Government, a liberation and peace demonstration will be held in front of Bupyeong Station on Sunday, June 18. Myanmar citizens in South Korea are cordially invited,” it stated.

At the event, One Day Challenge membership collection, issuing of congratulations and membership badges, advertising of One Day Challenge’s 2Y2M Lucky Winner program, Studitha donations by various revolutionary organizations, and revolution fund raising sales will be carried out.

On June 14, Bant Two LPDF-Production said that they had successfully produced the M4 hand-made carbines.

“Bant Two has successfully produced M4 hand-made carbines. I am proud of my comrades for being able to produce it despite many difficulties,” it stated.

9. Kanthit Village was burnt down again by junta troops

It is reported that the junta troops once again burned down the village of Kanthit in Khin-U Township, Sagaing Division.

On June 14, A.R.F. Khin-U confirmed the military council’s territorial activities.

“They are setting fire to the village of Kanthit again. They are shooting with heavy weapons and are heading towards the Khway Gaung Bridge. Earlier, the local defense force launched a mine attack and it was known that there had been some damage,” it stated.

On the evening of June 4, more than 100 terrorist junta soldiers, who have been raiding Kanthit Village, Khin-U Township, Shwebo District, Sagaing Division since June 1, burned down 65 houses for the 4th time.

“During the first five months of 2023, at least 748 civilians died as a result of armed conflict and fighting, a newly recorded number. The number of civilian deaths is almost 60 percent of the total number of civilians who died in the previous year. At least 8,640 civilians died in more than two years of the military coup, and at least 2,183 were shot by the military council during the protest and were killed while being arrested by the military council.”

In addition, at least 2,454 people died due to fighting and armed conflict.
