“Leaded by Tactical Operation Commander Hein Htet Aung, the Commanding Officer of the IB-60, the terrorist military council troops conducted drone attacks twice into Naung Kone Village, Mone Township at Kler Lwee Htu District of the KNU-Karen National Union Brigade-3 of the Kawthoolei Administrative Area, at 1:20 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. on May 21, 2023. Due to the attacks, Saw Kyi Soe’s house, Saw Stu’s (aka Saw Kaw Lei) house, a wooden hut, and the village school were damaged, and Saw Stu’s (aka Saw Kaw Lei) house was burnt to ashes,” it stated.
Naung Kone Village has a total of 117 households and a total population of 782. Till now, the whole population has to flee for their lives due to the military council’s offensive.
A total of 21,880 people from 18 villages have been fleeing the war since May 10, when the terrorist military council troops burned and killed the villagers in the KNU-Mone Township.

Since the coup in 2021 to May 23, 2023, a total of (22,635) people were arrested and among them, (18,319) are currently under detention, (6,030) of whom are serving sentences.
6. Jet fighters from Myitkyina came to fire at the battle area in Indaw Township
The military council’s jet fighter planes that came down from Myitkyina fired at the battle area of Indaw Township, Sagaing Division.
Indaw Revolution – IR Team has confirmed that the military council launched air strikes on the morning of May 23.
“Two jet fighters that came down from the Myitkyina opened fire on the scene of the battle in Indaw Township,” it stated.
The damage is currently under investigation.
During the first four months of 2023, there were at least 442 airstrikes in at least 56 townships.
7. Two junta lackeys were killed in a drone attack at a checkpoint at the Kantalu Toll Gate in Sagaing
The Phoenix (SGG) defense force informed military news on May 23 that two junta lackeys were killed in a drone attack on a checkpoint at the Kantalu Toll Gate in Sagaing.
“On May 21, at 4:03 pm, a drone attacked the checkpoint of the police, junta soldiers, Pyu members, and traffic officers at the Kantalu Toll Gate in Sagaing and Shwe Taung Company by dropping 4 bombs,” it stated.
2 traffic officers were reportedly killed and the injured junta soldiers were carried by car.
The operation was jointly carried out by the alliance of Anya Brother LPDF Collective Force (ABCF), Phoenix (SGG), Unicorn Guerrilla Force, Fight For Federal, Black Cat, and Sadaung Revolution Army.
8. Albino Tiger Column attacked a military council column near Waba Thae Village in the northern part of Ye Township, killing more than 30 junta soldiers
On May 23, the Albino Tiger Column informed the military news that more than thirty junta soldiers were killed in an attack by the Albino Tiger Column on a military council column near Waba Thae Village in the northern part of Ye Township, Mon State.
“On May 19, at around 3:00 p.m., forces of the Albino Tiger Column Battalion-01 and Battalion-06 attacked the military council column near the village of Waba Thae in the northern part of Ye Township, Mon State for the first time. The battle lasted for about one and a half hours, and 19 people from the terrorist military council side were reportedly killed.”
In addition, at around 8:30 a.m. on May 20, the revolutionary forces blocked and attacked the column of the military council troops who had retreated, and the fighting continued when the military council’s reinforcements arrived.
The second battle lasted for around 3 and a half hours, and it is reported that 11 soldiers from the military council side were killed. During battles for 2 times, more than 30 junta soldiers were killed, many were wounded, and 1 revolutionary comrade was injured.
It is reported that the attack was carried out by the forces of Albino Tiger Column Squadron-01 and Squadron-06 and the local cooperative group.
9. In Ye-U Township, the junta soldiers were attacked by landmines twice
On May 23, Ye-U PaKaFa confirmed that the junta troops were injured when they were attacked by landmines twice in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Division.
“Junta soldiers suffered a lot from the mine attack by the squadrons of Ye-U Township PaKaFa around the Kanpauk Bridge and Letlam Bridge. Traces of blood-stained cotton swabs and medical injection ampoules used in case of profuse bleeding were left behind,” it stated.
On May 23, the local People’s Defense Forces of Ye-U Township’s PaKaFa Squadron attacked the terrorist junta column with mines 2 times: once in the morning around Kanpauk Bridge while the column was marching from the Shwe Pyi Tha in the north of Ye-U Township towards the villages on the northern side; the second time was in the afternoon near Letlan Bridge while the column was marching from the side of Kanpauk Village to the south side along Mu creek bank.
