1. NUG Foreign Minister warns about the fake news and information warfare accelerated by the military council

Daw Zin Mar Aung, the Foreign Minister of the National Unity Government, has warned the public that the military council is accelerating fake news and information warfare. On March 3, the Foreign Minister stated the following:

“The military council has accelerated online fake news and information warfare related to religion and ground terrorism. That is why I don’t want to be underestimated.”

In addition to disguising the People’s Defense Forces, supporters of the terrorist military and their stooges have been focusing on dividing between EROs and the revolutionary forces.

2. The Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee meets with Public Administration Groups from Sagaing and Magway regions

The National Unity Government’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee held a (9/2023) meeting with Public Administration Groups from Sagaing and Magway regions, on March 3. U Aung Myo Min, the NUG Human Rights Minister, said the following at the meeting:

“We can learn about the ground situation by observing the actions and efforts of those on the ground, as well as their interactions with officials. As the Ministry, we work on human rights development, protection, and legal justice for the general public. On the one hand, we need to understand the actual situation on the ground, and we must try to overcome all military council propaganda in order to tell the world the truth and express public feelings.”

Furthermore, Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, Union Minister of Women, Youth, and Children Affairs, clarified the department’s operations and preparations for the International Women’s Day campaign, which will fall on March 8, 2023.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers who are members of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Permanent Secretaries, officials from various departments, and leaders and members of the Public Administration Groups from Sagaing and Magway regions.

3. NUG Human Rights Minister meets with Mr. Marek Libick, in charge of Asian-Pacific Affairs of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The National Unity Government’s Human Rights Minister met with Mr. Marek Libick, in charge of Asian-Pacific Affairs of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and discussed Myanmar issues. On March 3, the NUG Human Rights Minister U Aung Myo Min said the following:

“In the discussion titled “Never Give Up,” I spoke with Mr. Marek Libick, who is in charge of Asian affairs at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Igor Blazevic, a great friend of the people of Myanmar. Although it is a small country, I would like to thank the government and the people of the Czech Republic for their support for democracy in Myanmar. 

Moreover, the Minister added that he wants the Czech Republic, which currently serves as the chairman of the Human Rights Council, to continue making every effort to take effective measures against the terrorist military council, which is becoming increasingly brutal on a daily basis.

4. NUG Human Rights Minister condemned the Myanmar Human Rights Commission as a non-functioning body 

U Aung Myo Min, NUG Human Rights Minister, has condemned the Myanmar Human Rights Commission as a non-functioning body that remains silent on the military dictator’s activities. The Minister commented on the invitation of the military council’s Human Rights Commission to the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

“The Myanmar Human Rights Commission has remained silent on the military regime’s brutality since the COVID-19 period. Therefore, inviting such a non-functioning commission that does not meet international standards to attend GANHRI’s annual meeting is an insult to the people of Myanmar,” said the Minister. 

Moreover, the Minister added that it is incorrect to invite the Commission, which does not deal with human rights issues in the name of the Human Rights Commission and acts as if it is unaware of how bad the current situation in Myanmar is.

5. NLD Central Working Committee permanently expelled four members from the party

The National League for Democracy’s Central Working Committee (CWC) announced the expulsion of four members from the party, including U Phyo Min Thein and Daw Sandar Min.

“According to the report from the central committee members, regional and state executives, and the central affairs committee, those individuals were dismissed for giving false testimony against the League’s chairperson, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and for acting against the party’s policies,” it stated. 

Four of those expelled from the party are:

(a) U Phyo Min Thein (Central Executive Member)

(b) Daw Sanda Min (Central Committee Member)

(C) U Toe Lwin (Central Committee member)

(d) U Win Myint Aung (member of the Central Committee)

6. More than 20,000 people have been displaced in Tanintharyi Region

It is reported that the number of displaced people in the Tanintharyi Region has reached over 28,000, according to Dawna-Tanintaryi refugee support group on March 3.  

“The number of people fleeing the war was higher than the previous month as junta troops committed more raiding, burning villages and arresting villagers. According to ground conditions and Dawna-Tanintaryi references, the total number of displaced people in the Tanintharyi region has reached over 28,000,” it stated. 

On February 1, the second anniversary of the coup, military operations in Palaw and Tanintharyi townships were increased after the declaration of martial law in those areas.

 7. Pyu Saw Htee militia members killed supporters of the NLD party in Layywarson village, Myingyan township

In the Mandalay region of Myingyan township, the Pyu Saw Htee militia members killed the NLD party supporters in Layywarson village and dumped the bodies on the side of the road. On March 3, AAPP reported the following about the situation after the military coup:

“On February 28, around 10:00 p.m., four people living in Layywarson village, namely Ko Soe Thu Win, Ko Poe Aye, Ko Mg Mg, and Ma Khin Yu Mon, were arrested and shot dead by terrorist junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia members.”

Then, the bodies were dumped on the side of the road between Layywarson and Balone villages, and the victims were not only NLD supporters but also anti-terrorist activists. At least 3,085 people were killed, including democracy activists who opposed the arbitrary military coup on February 1, 2021, according to AAPP.

8. Over 132 lakhs of tax revenue received from 9 gates within the Pale township

Over 13,260,000 in tax revenue was received from 9 gates within Pale township. On March 3, the Pale Township Public Administration Group reported as follows:

“On March 3, the Pale township public administration group, township People’s Defense Forces, and township Public Security Forces of the National Unity Government held a monthly budget allocation meeting. The person in charge of finance clarified the tax revenue collected from nine gates in Pale township and distributed it in accordance with NUG’s budgeting policy rate. The total tax revenue in February 2023 is 13,263,000 kyats after deducting the expenses of nine gates.”

According to the report, the tax revenue collected for the “Public Administration” processes was distributed to the responsible individuals via a meeting decision for humanitarian aid, health, education, development, and office expenses.

9. Defense forces detonated the military convoy with seven padaythar mines on the Monywa – Mandalay Highway.

Defense forces detonated 15 military vehicles with 7 padaythar mines on the Monywa – Mandalay Highway. On March 3, the Urban Hunter Force – UHF confirmed the military news as follows:

“On March 3, defense forces detonated 15 military vehicles with seven padaythar mines on the Monywa-Mandalay Highway. The military council’s vehicles were damaged, and the death toll is unknown.”

The operation was jointly conducted by the Urban Hunter Force – UHF, Bandula and its members, and THE ANTS Local People Defense Force.

10. Defense forces dropped Enaga bombs at the military council column in Myaing township

Defense forces continuously dropped Enaga bombs at the military council column patrolling the villages in the southern part of Myaing township. On March 3, the Pakokku Special Task Force confirmed the military news as follows:

“The Pakokku Special Task Force and Hero New G.Z Wolf Guerrilla Force, Myaing Light Beam Guerrilla Force, and Myaing Black Cheetah People’s Defense Force attacked the junta column of about 60 forces leaving Htanpaukkone village in Pauk township near the Sepyar village.”

According to the report, the junta column was attacked for the second time at about 1:00 PM with 10 bombs near the Ywartanshey village.

11. The Defense Forces repeatedly launched mine attacks on the military council convoy commuting from Sagaing to Monywa

It is reported that the military council convoy commuting from Sagaing to Monywa was repeatedly attacked with several mines. On March 3, the People’s Knight Defense Force Myinmu confirmed the military news as follows:

“A military council convoy commuting from Sagaing to Monywa was mined three times between Myinmu and Wanpyayt and five times between Wanpyayt and Allakappa village on March 3, 2023, around 1:40 a.m.”

It is reported that the affected junta forces were taken to Myinmu Hospital in 3 cars for medical treatment. The operation was jointly conducted by the People’s Knight Defense Force Myinmu (PKDF-MMU) along with the People’s Army To Fight Dictatorship (PAFD), Dog Killers Defense Force (DKPDF-MMU), TAUNGTHA People Defense Force (TTAPDF), and D.B.B.F.- MMU.
