1. The National Unity Government will form its appellate court
The Union Prime Minister, Mahn Win Khaing Than, has stated that the National Unity Government will establish an appellate court. The Prime Minister said at the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee’s meeting on February 17 as follows:
“We discussed that the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration would present cases and begin the trial in order to prosecute the military council in special courts. Please discuss the operational processes, as well as the conveniences and inconveniences that exist in this situation. Moreover, it has been decided that the matter of appointing the number of judges for the formation of the appellate court will be confirmed and approved at the next meeting, so I encourage you to discuss it.”
“Furthermore, while some issues can be handled conveniently because it is a time of revolution, legal issues may be hard to address. On the other hand, it is a time of revolution, so planning in detail is challenging in every case,” the Prime Minister reiterated.
2. The NUG’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee meets with Township Public Administration Bodies in Magway and Sagaing regions
On February 17, the NUG’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee held a meeting (7/2023) with Township Public Administration Bodies from Magway and Sagaing regions.
U Nai Tun Pe (b) Nai Suwunna, Union Minister of Labor, a member of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee, gave the meeting’s opening remarks. Following that, Kanbalu and Monywa District Public Administration Groups clarified their activities, recommendations, and reviews related to district field inspections, and officials from various departments in attendance explained the ministry’s operations. Then, the Public Administration Groups from Sagaing and Magway regions discussed the difficulties encountered on the ground and what they want to know.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers who are members of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Joint Permanent Secretaries, officials from various departments, leaders and members of the Public Administration Groups in Sagaing and Magway regions.

The National Unity Government’s Education Ministry announced the recognition of 13 township’s education boards. On February 17, the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government issued a statement (6/2023).
According to the statement, the Ministry of Education recognizes the education boards that have been established by townships until February 16 and will cooperate with educational activities. Therefore, 13 township education boards have been recognized, and the remaining groups will be confirmed if they are contacted after the formation of the township education boards.

The Deputy Minister of Labor of the National Unity Government met with the AAC Alliance and discussed Labor issues at the AAC Alliance office in Bangkok. The PVTV news agency reported on February 17 as follows:
“In Bangkok, a team led by U Kyaw Ni, the NUG Deputy Minister of Labor, met with the AAC Alliance and the LPN Foundation to discuss the issue of Myanmar migrant workers. The NUG Ministry of Labor and the AAC alliance, led by Ko Ye Min, have been working on the issue of Myanmar migrant workers, and this discussion is intended to accelerate cooperation.”

The French Ambassador paid his tributes by laying memorial roses for all those killed and missing after the coup. On February 17, the French Embassy in Yangon stated as follows:
“The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) listed today that over 3,000 people have died since the military coup on February 1, 2021. Mr. Christian Lechervy, French Ambassador, paid tribute by laying memorial roses for all those killed, injured (or missing), particularly after the coup.”
The ambassador expressed his condolences to all those who lost their lives and their families while fighting for Myanmar’s democratic transition.
6. Nway Oo San Yeik Mon (Spring Bliss) Housing received approximately 17.8 million USD
Since February 11, when Nway Oo San Yeik Mon (Spring Bliss) housing began selling, about 6,300 housing units have been sold, with approximately $17.8 million in financing received, according to the report. On February 17, the EOD reported the news as follows:
“Since February 11, approximately 6,300 Nway Oo San Yeik Mon (Spring Bliss) apartments have been sold out. A total of $17.8 million in revolutionary funding has been received. The revolutionary people said that “we have ours.” They marched relentlessly, as they said. We will march until the goal is reached. We are considering how to rebuild the country while sharing our successes.”
The remaining 3,000 Nway Oo San Yeik Mon apartments are on sale from February 16 and can be purchased by contacting the nearest EOD agents.
7. KNU Central says over 3 million Thai Baht was lost due to the terrorist junta troops’ airstrikes
KNU Central has announced that over 3 million Thai Baht was lost due to the terrorist junta troops’ airstrikes by six fighter jets in two days. On February 17, KNU Central reported the battle news as follows:
“At 10:00 p.m. on February 14, three terrorist junta fighter jets dropped six bombs on Debuno village, Luthaw township, KNU Kawthoolei administrative area, Mu Traw district brigade (5), and six civilian houses were destroyed by fire. Moreover, at 11:30 p.m. on February 15, three terrorist junta fighter jets dropped six bombs on Htawthteepel village in Paykayde village group, Luthaw township, Mu Traw district brigade (5), KNU Kawthoolei administration area.”
One school with seven buildings, six houses, three shops, and two rice barns were destroyed by fire due to the bombing. In addition, four tractors, two motorcycles, one internet WiFi receiver, and one rice mill machine were damaged, with a total loss of over 3 million Thai baht.
8. Defense forces launched a drone attack on the Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp in southern Myaing township
It has been reported that a drone dropped eight bombs on the Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp in the southern Myaing township, Magway division. The Myaing Garuda PDF confirmed the drone attack occurred on February 17 at 10:30 a.m.
“The Thayetkan Pyu Saw Htee camp in the southern Myaing township was attacked by a drone at around 10:30 am on February 17, injuring 3 Pyu Saw Htee,” Myaing Garuda PDF said.
Currently, the damage situation is still under investigation. The operation was jointly conducted by the Myaing township People’s Defense Force (Battalion 1, Division 1), Garuda PDF (Division 2), and Light beam Guerrilla Force.
9. A nun died when the terrorist army burned the Letpanhla village in Khin-U township
It has been reported that a nun died when the terrorist army burned down the Letpanhla village, Khin-U township.
“The 100-strong junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia members raided and burned the houses in Letpanhla village in Khin-U township, Sagaing region. Therefore, a nun, Daw Seik, died in the fire inside her house because she was too old and unable to escape,” AAPP said.
Over 3,000 people were killed during the Spring Revolution, including democracy activists who opposed the arbitrary military coup on February 1, 2021.
10. At least 7 soldiers injured when defense forces launched a drone attack on the Yesagyo township’s 258th battalion
At least seven soldiers were injured when resistance forces launched a drone attack on junta troops from Yesagyo township’s 258th battalion. The Yesagyo township’s PDF confirmed the battle news on February 17 as follows:
“Defense forces attempted to attack the 70-strong junta troops that came to reinforce the Shin Ma mountain. Soldiers from the People’s Defense Force (Yesagyo township) and other resistance forces intercepted and attacked 5 Enagas bombes with a drone between Htanto and Chinyarkone villages.
According to the investigation, at least seven soldiers were seriously injured, and the wounded soldiers were transported to the truck. The People’s Defense Force (Yesagyo township), MTRF, Young Force UG, and Steel Falcon Guerrilla Force collaborated on the operation.
11. Ko Kaung Htet Thu, a former Aviation University student, and his wife were sentenced to long prison terms under Article 50. (j)
It has been reported that Ko Kaung Htet Thu, a former Aviation University student, and his wife were sentenced to long prison terms under Article 50. (j). On February 17, the Aviation University’s Student Union reported as follows:
“The terrorist junta’s court unjustly sentenced Ko Kaung Htet Thu, a former batch (10) student at Myanmar Aeronautics and Astronautics University, and his wife.”
After being sentenced to 3 months under Section (188), Ko Kaung Htet Thu was unjustly sentenced to 10 years in prison over a year after being arrested and charged again under Section 50. (j). Ko Kaung Htet Thu and his wife were arrested on September 18, 2021, in Monywa city.
