On 17 August, Union Minister of Communications, Information and Technology of the National Unity Government U Htin Linn Aung told a news agency regarding the visit of UN Special Envoy Noeleen Heyzer.

“Regarding humanitarian aids, what we hope is UN to support those humanitarian aid directly to the people who are in the affected areas or our people who are suffering in neighboring countries. Otherwise, if it were to be put into the hands of the military council, then this would in vain, not reaching those who are really in trouble,”

Union Minister said.

Currently, the National Unity Government has been able to provide humanitarian assistance worth 231.49 million Kyats in July.

Secretary U Naing Htoo Aung says that over 250 People’s Defense Force battalions have been registered with the Ministry of Defense

On 18 August, Secretary for the Ministry of Defense U Naing Htoo Aung told radio NUG regarding the registration of the People’s Defense Forces.

Currently, there are 257 People’s Defense Force battalions, 250 Township people’s defense force (pakapha), and 401 LDF and urban youth guerrilla forces.

The Ministry of Defense is working on establishing a Command-and-Control system for the People’s Defense Force battalions, equipping them with weapons, and issuing PDF registration numbers.

“On 11 August, after the enemy military council found about the presence of the comrades of the Chin Defense Force in Yin Paung Taing village, Yin Mar Bin Township, Sagaing Division, three helicopters came and attacked the village in the evening of that day. On the day of the incident, the enemy military council shot all the people in sight, including the old, the young, and the middle-aged, and the animals were also shot.”

It is stated that a number of weapons belonging to the comrades of the Chin Defense Force were seized after the Chin defense forces were attacked by helicopters.

Moreover, the enemy military council came down from the helicopter and raided the village. Many locals were still being arrested as human shields and some were released.

On 12 August, the local defense forces in Yin Mar Bin District joined forces and surrounded and attacked the enemy military council troops stationed in Yin Paung Taing village, and the battle lasted for 2 hours.

It is reported that 2 members of the Chin Defense Force, 12 people from Yin Paung Taing village, and 4 people from other villages were killed by the military during the clashes.

Local people are notified to be careful since the six military ships loaded with weapons and rations began to depart from the Katha port

On 18 August, Local defense forces said, “It is reported that six military ships loaded with weapons and rations of the military council began to depart from the port of Katha at around 9:30 this morning. The ships are likely to open fire with large and small weapons, so the locals from the villages along the Irrawaddy River are alerted to live and travel with caution.”

The military used to shoot and destroy the villages on the coast when military transport ships were attacked by the local defense forces.

Some allied forces have provided arms and ammunition support to the Yaw People’s Defense Force (YPDF)

On 18 August, the Yaw People’s Defense Force (YPDF) said, “The weapons and ammunition provided by some allied forces were handed over by YPDF officials to the division commanders in accordance with the force’s procedures.”

Yaw People’s Defense Force (YPDF) is also a revolutionary force that has been fighting against the military troops, and causing a lot of casualties of the military troops.

A ministry accountant sergeant who defected from the military and joined CDM served as deputy commander in the CDM Department

On 18 August, Karenni People’s Embrace introduced a ministry accountant sergeant who served as deputy commander in the CDM Department after defecting from the military.

It stated, “Sai San Naung – who decided to go to the end of the revolution by serving as the deputy commander in the CDM Department after defecting from the position of ministry accountant sergeant and joining CDM.”

At present, there are over 15,000 soldiers and police who defected from the military council and joined CDM.

Those who defected from the military council are being rewarded with a prize of 3,500,000 to 6,000,000 Kyats if they arrive with weapons.
