The National Unity Government urges the international communities, including the United Nations, to stop the activities of the terrorist military council and to take effective measurements as fast as possible. It is initially stated that the terrorist army attacked with four jet planes and killed some artists and many people while a celebration was being held 62nd anniversary of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) day in Hpakant, Kachin State, on October 23 at 8:30 p.m.

During the period of the terrorist group illegally seized the power of the public, almost 240 airstrikes have been carried out targeting the people all over Myanmar, including the ethnic areas. More than 200 civilians were killed during these attacks, and the people’s houses, religious buildings were also damaged. It was deeply saddened to hear that the terrorist army attacked with four jet planes and killed innocent people, artists, and soldiers in the A Nang Pa camp, Kachin State, Hpakant township, on October 23 at 8:30 p.m. Those airstrikes were happened while the pre-ceremony was being held to commemorate the establishment of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO).  The Ministry of Defense considered that this act was intentionally carried out by the terrorist military council.

“National Unity Government, as the Ministry of Defense, sympathize with the heartbreak of the innocent people who have fallen, the artists and the families of the soldiers. Also, we are sending this message of condolence by promising that we will work together with allied organizations and fight the military dictator to prevent tragedies like airstrikes in Kachin State never happen again in any part of the country,” the Ministry of Defense said.

The terrorist army attacked with three jet planes and killed up to thirty people while a celebration was being held in Hpakant, Kachin State. On October 23 at 8:30 PM, the terrorist army attacked from the air while celebrating the 62nd anniversary of KIO day.

“The president of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, Mr. Anthony Banbury, and three members visited the NUG’s Australian representative office, and had a friendly discussion and exchange of views on ways to prevent the election that the regime is preparing to hold in 2023,” they said. Dr. Tun Aung Shwe, the Australian representative of the National Unity Government, attended the meeting.

On the morning of October 24, the Koetaungboet revolutionary forces said that the military council troops invaded and destroyed the village of Zawchaung from Koetaungboet. “The 57 soldiers from the military council who came out of the Koetaungboet station, set fire to the remaining houses and one oil machine in Zawchaung village at 11:30 a.m.,” he said. It was reported that they entered the Ahlelkhon village at one o’clock in the afternoon.

A political prisoner who was detained in Pathein prison died of suffocation

It is reported that a political prisoner who was detained in Pathein prison died of suffocation. AAPP described that U San Aye, a political prisoner who was detained in Pathein prison, Ayeyarwady region, died of suffocation on the night of October 17. U San Aye is from Pathein city, a resident of Ward No. 5, was arrested for participating in a demonstration against the military dictatorship and was charged under Section 52(a) of the Anti-Terrorism act. It is reported that the family members were not allowed to bury U San Aye’s dead body. From the time of the coup in 2021 to October 24 2022, a total number of 12,746 people have been arrested, and 1,593 of them have been sentenced to prison.
