The “Silent Strike” and the “White Campaign” are profound symbols of mass revolution. It has been documented as a significant event that the international community once again clearly witnessed the public’s anti-coup attitude. We have been fervently resisting the military dictatorship system with unwavering determination, proving that we are advancing with full revolutionary stamina,” Acting President said.

In addition, the Acting President reiterated that the National Unity Government salutes the tenacity of the people who have such a revolutionary spirit.

An online Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government (NUG) and Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States was held on January 30, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. Myanmar time.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Minu Ipe (Director and Vice Chair of University Design Institute, ASU), Juliane Schober (Director of Asia Center, ASU) and officials from ASU, Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe and Deputy Minister Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun from the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government, and teachers from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

First, the Minister of Education and Deputy Minister gave opening remarks, and then the executive directors of Arizona State University also gave opening remarks and signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

ASU and the Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the agreement that they will cooperate in academic fields such as academic exchange between students, teachers and researchers, sending scholars, creating lessons together, and holding workshops.

The Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government has held formal discussions with Arizona State University since January 2023, and the two groups have been able to jointly provide Universal Learner Courses online scholarships for 27 students, hold Digital Infrastructure and Services workshops and University Governance workshops.

It is reported that U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights, held a meeting with Cho Hee-yeon, superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, on January 31.

During the meeting, the Union Minister conveyed his appreciation and happiness at hearing that the history of Myanmar’s Spring Revolution would be included in the curriculum of Korean schools. Following, educational programs for cultural and political exchange between Korea and Myanmar, and potential educational programs for teachers and students who participated in non-violent civil disobedience (CDM) were discussed.

It is learned that officials from the National Unity Government Representative Office in Japan participated in the meeting along with the Union Minister.

U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights of the Government of National Unity, attended a hearing with members of parliament and political figures at 3:00 p.m. on February 1 at the Korean Parliament’s Seminar Hall (2) and spoke about the Myanmar Spring Revolution.

As the first part of the program, U Aung Myo Min gave a speech on “The situation of the 3-year anniversary of the Spring Revolution and what the international community should participate in” and answered questions from the attendees.

In the second part of the program, chaired by Professor of Political Science of Songgun Huai University, Mr. Bae On Hoon, the discussion on Myanmar’s political analysis, which has evolved due to Operation 1027, continued. Seoul National University Asian Research Department professor Choi Kyung Hee, Sunggonghui University political and diplomatic student leader Na On Chan, PhD student of Seoul University of Political Science Chan Bak Chal, journalism doctoral student of Pukyong National University Khant Zin, and former CDM captain Lin Htet Aung participated in the discussion.

Further, it is reported that a team of NUG Union Minister U Aung Myo Min, NUG Korea representative U Yan Naing Tun, and office manager U Soe Moe Thu met separately with Democratic Party MP Go Young-in and MP Park Young Sun.

Presidential Office Spokesperson U Kyaw Zaw wrote on Twitter on February 1 that he met with Mr. Tom Andrews.

“So nice to meet with Tom Andrews @RapporteurUn. We had very good conversation this morning. Greatly appreciated his excellent work and tireless efforts in supporting #Myanmar people,” he said.

Mr. Tom Andrews, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Myanmar, recognized the National Unity Government in reports on Myanmar and stood by the people of Myanmar, as he wrote in the reports.

On February 1, the Chinland Council announced the formation of the Chinland Government in accordance with Chapter 9, Section 32 (a) of the Constitution of Chinland.

The government team consists of 16 members, and Pu Pa Thang will serve as the Prime Minister, and Dr. Tial Hnin will serve as the Attorney General.

In addition, 14 ministers have been selected for the 14 ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Home Affairs, Finance and Planning, Education, Health and Sports, Humanitarian Affairs and Rehabilitation, Economy and Commerce, Women, Youth and Children Affairs, Communication and Technology, Agriculture and Livestock, and Construction.

The announcement of the formation of the government was signed by Zing Cung, chairman of the Chinland Council, on February 1.

On February 1, the 3rd anniversary of the Spring Revolution, the foreign ministers of 8 countries, including the High Representative for Foreign Affairs, issued a joint statement regarding the issue of the terrorist military group carrying out an unjust coup d’état against the people of Myanmar.

In the joint statement, it stated, “We condemn in the strongest possible terms the military regime’s ongoing atrocities and human rights violations, such as sexual and gender-based violence, and the restriction of fundamental freedoms including freedom of expression, through peaceful protests and the media. We reiterate our call for the Commander-in-Chief and the military to change course, immediately ceasing violence against civilians, releasing all unjustly detained political prisoners, allowing full humanitarian access and creating space for inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders.”

It is reported that the countries included in the joint statement are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the EU.

On February 1, 2024, the 3rd anniversary of the military coup, Australia extended sanctions against 3 companies and 2 banks relating to the coup military that has been carrying out violence against the people.

Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank (MFTB) and Myanma Investment and Commercial Bank were sanctioned for providing financial support to the coup military council. In addition, Asia Sun Group, Asia Sun Trading Co., Ltd., and Cargo Link Petroleum Logistics Co., Ltd., which import jet fuel for the military council, were also added to the sanctions list.

The sanctions are made in response to the military council’s violent actions against the Myanmar people and human rights violations, and the coup army’s actions will continue to be closely monitored, according to a statement from the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Daw Aung Suu Ky’s younger son Kim Eric said in an interview with BBC that he received the letter for the first time from his mother, Aung San Suu Kyi, who was unjustly arrested and imprisoned after the military coup. In the interview Kim said that the letter was received through the British Foreign Department in mid-January, and the department photographed the letter and sent it to him.

He said he was happy to receive a handwritten letter from Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and glad to know that his mother was still alive. The letter contained only about family matter and had nothing relating to politics.

In September of last year, after hearing that his mother was ill, he sent a parcel containing supplements, vitamins, basic medicine, and food to his mother and said that she received the parcel in December.

State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is currently in a prison in Nay Pyi Taw, and is suffering from frequent toothaches and neck pain.

Revolutionary comrades participated in the White Campaign on February 1 wearing white armbands.

Comrades from the People’s Defense Force (PDF), Company 1, Company 2 (Aya Nyingnaung), and Company 4 of the Pyay District Battalion 3601 (PPDF), participated in the White Campaign on the 3rd anniversary of the anti-dictatorship Spring Revolution.

Similarly, Sagaing District No. 4 Battalion – Myaung Special People’s Defense Force – MSPDF/MSDF also said, “We are fighting against the coup d’état military council until the military dictatorship is eradicated. While participating in the White Campaign alongside the public, we pledged to strive for the creation of a federal democratic union that truly reflects the people’s desires.”

On February 1, the Hkamti District Battalion 2 confirmed that Shwe Pyi Aye Town is still under the control of the combined forces and is engaged in contact battles with enemy columns.

Shwe Pyi Aye Town has been attacked and captured by the allied forces, including the Hkamti District Battalion 2, No. 1 Military Region, the Ministry of Defence, since November 2023, and it is confirmed that it is still under the control of allied PDF forces until today.

It is said that since January 23, fighting has been going on near the town since the joint column of military council troops and SNA is attacking Shwe Pyi Aye Town and trying to regain control. The SNA and military council joint column is receiving supplies of food and ammunition by helicopters in Homalin and is attacking the city with a large number of military forces.

Despite the daily firing with howitzers, 120mm and 81mm shells from Homalin, jet fighters, and Mi-2 bombardment, Shwe Pyi Aye Town is still under the control of the coalition forces and it is confirmed that they are engaged in contact with enemy columns.

On January 31, an 80-strong military council column that came out of Ye-U Township, Sagaing Division, attacked the villages of Thayet Kone and Kin Pyit with heavy weapons and small arms, and killed 3 civilians who were hiding on February 1.

31-year-old Ko Ye Aung, 51-year-old U Than Tun from Thayet Kone Village, and 42-year-old U Than Lwin Gyi from King Pyit Village were killed near Kalon Village after being arrested by the military council column, said the spokesperson of the Alinn Yaung Defense Forces, Ko Alinn Yaung.

In addition to them, at least 15 local residents were arrested and they are still kept in Tharwutti Village by the military council column. They have not yet been released to this day.

According to a person helping war refugees in Khin-U Township, 14 houses in Kalon Village and more than 60 houses in Tharwutti Village were burned down after the military council army raided. In addition, it is said that more than one thousand residents from 15 villages have left their homes and fled to safety because of the military incursion by the junta troops.

Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activist Group stated that the terrorist military conducted 5 airstrikes in the northern part of Kanbalu District, Sagaing Division, from about 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on February 1, without a fight, injuring at least 10 people, including 2 monks.

A jet fighter coming from the Tada-U Air Force Base launched an aerial attack on the Thin Taw Village monastery, the Zaw Chaung Village monastery, and the south of Kangyi Village in the northern part of Kanbalu District at 11:10 a.m. 8 local residents, including a monk from Thin Taw Village, have to seek emergency medical treatment. Zaw Chaung Village monastery got damages and a monk and a civilian were seriously injured.

After that, at 11:25 a.m., another jet fighter from the Tada-U Air Force Base dropped 4 bombs from the air on Pinttha (Tepin) Village and Magyikone Village in the northern part of Kanbalu, and 2 of them exploded. According to the initial reports, there was no damage in Magyikone Village, but the exact damage to Pinttha Village has not yet been confirmed.

Similarly, at 1:50 p.m., a jet fighter from the Tada-U Air Force Base conducted an air attack between the villages of Magyikone, Chaung Kyar, and Innma in the northern part of Kanbalu. The local people were not harmed since they were fleeing the war, but 5 houses in the southern part of the village were destroyed by fire.

Also, at 3:50 p.m., a jet fighter attacked the Zeegon Village monastery, and a resident from a house near the monastery was injured.

At 4:35 p.m., a jet fighter carried out an airstrike on Nyaung Kone Village School. it is not yet known whether the civilians were harmed and is still under investigation, according to Kyunhla-Kanbalu Activist Group.

The terrorist military’s airstrikes have been targeting civilian villages and monasteries, the most sacred places of Buddhism.

Due to these airstrikes, the local people of Pinttha Circuit, Chatthin Circuit and Koetaungboe Circuit in Kanbalu District have been fleeing from the war.
