The Acting President said the following at the 28th cabinet meeting of the National Unity Government held on August 22.
“We have to move forward with the left foot and the right foot in harmony in eradicating the military dictatorship. The path of people’s revolution and the path of armed revolution must not be separated. It is especially necessary to combine them delicately. We need to understand that the public struggle is the political way, and the armed struggle is the resistance war. They are partners, not enemies. The public struggle must support the military resistance, and the armed struggle must also support the people’s revolution. As we are leading the public revolution, we need to be one with the public and be upright in leading the public,” the Acting President said.
In addition, the Acting President said that we must prove with work in order to always have public support.
2. Not wanting to serve under the military council, nearly 500 military personnel, including 1 major at the rank of deputy battalion commander, defected within the 4 months from April to July
Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann said this at the cabinet meeting No. 28/2023 of the National Unity Government on August 22.
“The military council, which is collapsing from all sides, has now ordered all non-CDM personnel to form a battalion as a reserve force of the military. The number of military personnel who defected as they no longer wanted to continue serving under the terrorist military council is more than 50 in the month of August alone, and within the 4 months from April to July, it is estimated that there are nearly 500, including 1 major of the rank of deputy battalion commander. This is only the number who have joined us, and there may be others who have not yet joined,” the Union Prime Minister said.
In addition, the Union Prime Minister said that it is very encouraging that everyone is making efforts to defeat the military council at high speed in financial warfare.
3. A plan for the strategic integration of armed struggle and public struggle was presented to the cabinet
It is reported that the plan for the strategic integration of armed struggle and public struggle was presented at the cabinet meeting of the National Unity Government held on August 22.
At the meeting, Dr. Win Myat Aye, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, presented to get approval of the formation of additional ministries in the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Commission and, the Emergency Operation Coordination Committee (EOCC) structure. Then, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Labor U Kyaw Ni presented a plan for the strategic integration of armed struggle and public struggle on behalf of the strike forces and held discussions.
The 28th cabinet meeting of the National Unity Government was attended by Acting President Duwa Lashi La, Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, Union Ministers, and Deputy Ministers.
4. NUG is ready to grant a reward to the Karenni Revolutionary Forces for destroying the tank of the military council
Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing informed that the NUG is ready to grant a reward to the Karenni Revolutionary Forces for destroying the tank of the military council.
During the Spring Revolution Talk held in August, when U Min Ko Naing spoke about the Karenni’s achievement to destroy more tanks, Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing informed about the status of granting the award.
“We will give. There is enough to give. We rewarded Chin State for destroying two tanks. I would like to say that it is okay for the money. We will be responsible for awarding the reward. We also have enough money,” said the Union Minister.
In the battle near Chunkyong Village, Hakha Township, Chin State, the Chin Revolutionary Forces were able to destroy 2 armored vehicles of the terrorist military, and the National Unity Government awarded 400 million kyats after they submitted the evidence.

On August 22, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Yangon Division (16/2023) was held.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM), who is also a member of the ILACC, gave an opening speech.
Following, officials from ministries explained the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, activities, and challenges encountered on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Yangon Division.

Currently, the military council is successively making the removal/dismiss and transfer of their appointed employees.

8. The junta column that invaded Hthan Bone Taw Village in Myaing Township burned down 39 public houses
The Myaing Villages Revolution Front (MVRF) reported on August 22 that the junta column that entered Hthan Bone Taw Village in Myaing Township burned down 39 public houses.
“On August 21, when the estimated 80-strong junta column from Kanni village raided Hthan Bone Taw Village at around 8:20 a.m., the sentry unit of MVRF and allied forces came into contact with the column, resulting in 5 wounded and 2 killed from the military council side. At 9:00 a.m., they rampaged the village and set fire to the houses,” it stated.
After that, MVRF and allied forces dropped bombs with drones and cleared them, causing the junta soldiers retreated back to Kanni Village.
Although there were no casualties among the allied forces, 39 public houses in Hthan Bone Taw Village were set on fire, and about 5 houses were burned to ashes.

It was said that the rest of the policemen ran away, and the forces chased them, but they retreated due to the time of the battle.
