2. People’s Police of the Ministry of Home Affairs holds meeting with People’s Security Organisations from Sagaing and Magway Divisions

People’s Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration of the National Unity Government conducted its 39/2023 meeting with people’s security organisations from Sagaing and Magway Divisions through an online platform on October 3. At the meeting, the Associate Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration delivered an opening address and provided an overview of the ministry’s activities.

Subsequently, the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) extended greetings and introduced the proceedings. Following this, leaders of the people’s security organisations from Sagaing and Magway Divisions presented updates on their law enforcement activities, inquired about information they needed, and discussed the challenges they encountered in their operational areas.  The Associate Secretary and officials from the People’s Police responded to their queries and addressed the issues raised.

Permanent Secretary, Associate Secretary, Director General of the People’s Administration Department, senior officials from the People’s Police, and leaders representing the people’s security organisations in Sagaing and Magway Divisions attended the meeting.

3. People’s Defence Force (PDF) detains Four Junta Policemen in Tedim, Northern Chin State

In Tedim, Northern Chin State, the PDF-Zoland arrested four military junta policemen who were known for excessively demanding money from trucks on October 2.

According to a statement by the PDF-Zoland, they detained these four policemen, one of whom held the rank of constable first-class, on the morning of October 2, while they were in civilian attire. The PDF-Zoland asserted that these policemen had disregarded the warnings against extorting money from trucks travelling on the Kalay-Tedim-Rih Road, even after two weeks of warnings had been issued.

4. Ministry of Commerce to organise Training Course on “Sustainable Development Program

The Myanmar Institute of Economy, Commerce, and Industry (MIECI), a part of the Ministry of Commerce under the National Unity Government (NUG), is preparing to launch a “Sustainable Development Program” training course. This program is designed to contribute to the development of economic human resources as part of the Ministry of Commerce’s processes and is specifically intended for students and employees participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) across various departments.

The training course is scheduled to conduct for two days on October 7 and 8, with sessions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Ministry of Commerce has extended an invitation to all interested CDM students and CDM employees to register for the program.

5. Yaw PDF members actively participate in public welfare activities during non-battle periods

The comrades of the Yaws’ People Defence Force (YPDF) based in northern Gangaw Township in Magway Division are engaging in public warfare activities during periods when there are no ongoing battles.

In the rainy season, the YDF members are helping the public with the exaggeration of streets for public convenience, repairing streams and ditches, and helping transport motorcycles across streams in areas where stream crossing bridges have been submerged due to heavy rainfall, according to the person in charge from the YPDF.

Additionally, YPDF members actively engage in supporting local farmers during the paddy and sesame harvesting seasons near their base. They also contribute crops from their own cultivation to support internally displaced persons (IDPs). Furthermore, YPDF members occasionally offer healthcare services to IDPs and local residents, provide food support, and donate stationary supplies to self-supported schools in the area.

6. In New Operation Zone, Daw Na Column conducts seven military operations in three months, causing 28 military junta soldier fatalities and 40 injuries

Daw Na Column, part of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) under the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Defence, reported in a statement that over the course of three months in their newly designated operation area in Mon State, they collaborated with local allies to execute seven operations. These operations led to the fatalities of 28 junta soldiers and caused injuries to a minimum of 40 others. These operations consisted of three drone missions, one urban guerrilla operation, and three artillery operations.

In the course of the drone operations, Daw Na Column conducted airstrikes on multiple junta installations. They targeted the headquarters of the No. 19 Military Operations Commands (MOC 19) in Ye Town twice, as well as the base of the No. 61 Infantry Battalion that operates under MOC 19 twice. Additionally, they struck the No. 316 Artillery Battalion in Ye Township once and the No. 283 Artillery Battalion (Mujar Htaik Base) in Payathonzu (Three Pagodas Pass) once.

As an urban guerrilla operation, they eliminated junta lackeys Pyu Saw Htee militia members, including Pyu Saw Htee leader, from A Sin village in Ye Township who were threatening the security of the people, killing six of them and injuring two others.

In the artillery operations, they initiated an artillery strike on a meeting hall in Kawkareik, where approximately 60 junta members were gathered for a meeting on August 28, 2023. Additionally, they employed an 81-mm mortar to target the base of the No. 61 Infantry Battalion in Ye Town on September 1. Furthermore, they worked in conjunction with local allies to execute simultaneous artillery shell attacks on the bases of the Nos. 583 and 591 Light Infantry Battalions in Ye Town, both of which operate under MOC 19, on September 12.

During the seven operations carried out from July to September 2023, Daw Na Column, in collaboration with local allies, inflicted casualties upon the enemy junta forces, resulting in 28 deaths and 40 injuries.

Daw Na Column issued a warning to local residents, urging them to maintain a safe distance from junta troops and to exercise extreme caution. They emphasised that military operations, conducted in cooperation with local allies, would be accelerated in both the southern and northern areas of Ye Township.

7. Three junta policemen, including a sub-inspector, were killed in Yamabin Township while collecting bribes

Cho Mai Mai Yinmarbin Township Alliances reported on October 3 that they carried out an attack on the location where junta policemen were extorting bribes near Police Battalion 28 in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Division. The attack resulted in the deaths of three junta policemen, one of whom was a sub-inspector, while two others managed to escape with injuries.

The attack was carried out by seven special commandos of the Cho Mai Mai Yinmarbin Township Alliances and lasted for approximately seven minutes, occurring around 6:10 a.m. on October 3. During the attack, two G3 rifles, one Uzi gun, 102 rounds of G3 ammunition, and 20 rounds of Uzi ammunition were reportedly seized.
