The junta issued a diplomatic note ordering the Charge d’Affaires of the embassy of Timor-Leste in Yangon to leave no later than September 1, 2023, for engaging with the National Unity Government despite repeated warnings.
In response to the expulsion of its diplomat, the President of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos-Horta, condemned the actions of the Myanmar junta and proudly reiterated Timor-Leste’s position to defend human rights.

4. The KNDF is urgently requiring military arms, ammunition, medicine, and food due to ongoing fighting along the Demoso-Hpruso Union Highway for nearly a month
On August 27, the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) B04 released a statement about the military situation in the area.
According to the statement, fighting between the military council forces and the KNDF and allied forces has been going on along the Demoso-Hpruso Union Highway, which is the active area of the KNDF B04, for nearly a month since August 2.
“Since the fight has been ranging for almost a month and the military council forces have been launching a fierce offensive with artillery and aerial support, there is an urgent need for weapons, ammunition, medicine, and food,” the KNDF B04 said in its statement.
The KNDF B04 made an appeal for support from people at home and abroad in order to meet their needs.
5. The number of instances of military personnel killing each other is increasing
According to a report from the People’s Goal (Pyithu Pantaing) on August 26, as the military continues to deteriorate, more instances of military personnel killing each other are occurring as a result of battle defeats, internal oppression and abuse, exploitation, and other discontent inside the military.
The Company Commander, Captain Tin Min Htut (SaTaTha-55) of the 553rd Light Infantry Battalion (KhaMaYa 553/LIB 553) took possession of the illegal money obtained from receiving bribes from timber smugglings when on the frontline without distributing it to subordinates. He interrogated his subordinates inside the battalion when he discovered that his money was stolen after coming back from the frontline area security duty. He kicked and beat his subordinate, Corporal Min Min Soe, on suspicion of stealing. Corporal Min Min Soe, who had been severely beaten and tortured, had complained to higher departments step by step, but the battalion commander and superior officers took no action; instead, they put pressure on Corporal Min Min Soe to negotiate and reconcile because they were involved in the illegal money bribery cases.
Moreover, a dispute between soldiers of the 553rd Light Infantry Battalion (KhaMaYa 553/LIB 553) who were on security duties at a frontline outpost after drinking resulted in the death of one soldier on July 10. Soldier Chan Aung allegedly shot and killed soldier Zaw Lwin with the gun he was holding after drinking.
Also on August 11, a subordinate soldier shot and killed Captain Aung Myo Thu, a company commander, at the 6th Light Infantry Battalion (KhaMaYa 6/LIB 6) of the 66th Infantry Division in the Bago Region because he had been given nonstop duty for rear security, according to the People’s Goal.
