1. Acting President Duwa Lashi La urged people to look forward to a social revolution along with educational changes

Acting President of the National Unity Government, Duwa Lashi La said this in the Mogok Federal School Education Plenary Festival on December 23.

“The building of the future country comes together as a center in education. Political reform is important, and we must also focus on educational reform. If political reform is not accompanied by educational change, we cannot change society’s behavior and thinking. Changing society’s behavior and thinking must go hand in hand with the building of a new country. If not, the country may fall back into a bad vicious circle. I urge you to be aware of this and look forward to the social revolution along with the change in education,” the Acting President said.

In addition, the Acting President added that Myanmar’s education has been dominated by the curriculum of military propaganda and that the practice of critical analysis and thinking has been weak.

Despite the Five-Point Consensus of ASEAN being agreed in April 2021, the military council has continued to arrest, kill and detain innocent civilians and burn down villages more and more.

On December 23, All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU) stated that “3 students, including Ma Thiri Yadanar, a treasurer and executive committee member of ABFSU, Ko Aung Myo Ko, the president of Mandalay District Students Union (ABFSU) and Ko Kyaw Zin Latt, a former executive committee member of Mandalay Education College Student Union (ABFSU), who were arrested and detained on March 2, 2022, were sentenced to 22 years imprisonment each by the Obo prison court of the terrorist junta on December 23.”

Although these 3 students are student leaders of ABFSU who have always taken the lead in student rights and anti-military movements, they were charged with the anti-terrorism sections by the terrorist junta and convicted the highest punishments of 15 years for Section 50 (j) and 7 years for Section 52 (a), for a total of 22 years imprisonment.

Currently, there are more than 30 student comrades who are members of the ABFSU who have been arrested and detained with long prison terms in various prisons in Myanmar.

It has been reported that Ayetharyar (Pyankya) village in Depayin Township, Sagaing Division, was burned down two days in a row and at least three people were killed.

The Depayin Township Brotherhood confirmed this on December 23.

“The junta troops are burning and destroying Ayetharyar (Pyankya) village in Depayin Township again. Terrorist junta troops have been entering and burning Ayetharyar (Pyankya) village since yesterday, and it is sad to hear that at least 3 civilians were killed,” they said.

It was reported that two people were tied up and burned to death, and one was killed when he encountered junta soldiers in an ambush.

It was confirmed that about 10 junta soldiers were injured and killed in the attack.

The Mytel tower was blown up on December 23, Thabeikkyin Township (PDF) confirmed that, “On December 23rd (7:15) PM, the Mytel tower apparatus was blown up using 2 shock mines in Magyikone Group, Takaung District.”  

In Thabeikkyin Township, pillar businesses of the junta and businesses that pay taxes to the junta have also been informed and urged to stop in time.

In the operation, it is reported that 5 junta soldiers, including a captain, were killed on the spot and many others were injured.

On December 23, at 7:30 a.m., the Kawlin Revolutionary Forces confirmed that they had conducted a guerrillas attack on the junta soldiers.

“When the urban PDF detonated a mine near Basic Education High School No. (2) and People’s Park, two of the five junta soldiers who came out of the General Administrative Office were killed on the spot and three others were injured,” they stated.

It is said that one of the two people who died on the spot was a deputy police chief.
