Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government emphasized the importance of philosophy and ethics in the context of truth and revolution in a social media post on July 25. Addressing revolutionary comrades, she stated, “The truth is not revenge. Justice is not revenge. At this time, we have to remind ourselves that philosophy and ethics are the lifeblood of truth and revolution. The more we achieve victories in battles, the more important are the ethics and philosophy of humanity.”

The National Unity Government (NUG) has issued guidelines for People’s Defence Force (PDF) soldiers regarding the treatment of prisoners of war, along with ethical rules and regulations to be followed when dealing with civilians.

2. Union Minister U Htin Linn Aung notes rising urban happiness amid revolutionary successes

Union Minister U Htin Linn Aung of the Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology of the National Unity Government expressed optimism in a social media post on July 25. He remarked, “The happiness of the urban public is starting to be seen along with one good news after another.” This remark comes as cities are being captured by revolutionary forces and joyfully welcomed by residents.

On July 24 at 5:00 p.m., the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) captured all the military junta bases in the world-famous ruby town of Mogok and subsequently occupied the town. Similarly, on July 25 at 4:00 a.m., the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) successfully captured the headquarters of the Northwest Military Command of the military junta in Lashio after 23 days of intense fighting.

3. PDF forces strengthened by a warm welcome from Mogok residents after capturing the town

The Mogok Strategy of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) said on July 25 that the residents of Mogok, known as the land of rubies, have strengthened their morale. The combined forces of the Ta’ang Liberation Army (TNLA) and the PDF successfully captured Mogok at 5:00 p.m. on July 24 and were warmly welcomed by the jubilant residents. The statement read, “The happiness of the public is the strength of our comrades. May the citizens of Mogok be safe from any dangers.”

As the revolutionary forces entered the town, Mogok residents greeted them with Eugenia leaves, a symbol of victory in Myanmar, and celebrated with Shan traditional dances and the playing of Shan traditional long drums called “Ozi.”

“A town so united as this should be liberated, shouldn’t it? The times have changed. The times are changing. Very thankful to all revolutionary forces, NUG’s PDFs, and the PSLF/TNLA who led the battles. The most worthy of gratitude are the people of the town, and their enthusiasm is the driving force of the revolution,” remarked the commander of the Mandalay People’s Defense Force (MDY PDF) in a social media post.

Following the successful capture of the entire township of Mogok by the TNLA-led revolutionary forces, the entire resident population took to the streets to welcome the revolutionary comrades. This show of support and encouragement aimed to inspire the remaining people across the country, despite the risk of being bombed by the military junta using helicopters, as had happened previously.

4. Dr. Tun Aung Shwe warns of political risks from generals who dislike junta chief Min Aung Hlaing but cling to power

In a recent Facebook post, Dr. Tun Aung Shwe, the representative of the National Unity Government (NUG) in Australia, warned about a group of generals within the military. He described this group as composed of individuals who dislike Min Aung Hlaing but are unwilling to relinquish military power. This faction uses substantial funds and connections to lobby globally and includes well-educated individuals who do not act in the country’s best interests.  He cautioned that this group is secretly planning a strategy to change leadership without altering the underlying system, noting that they are politically dangerous.

Dr. Tun Aung Shwe also highlighted that this group of military generals is obsessed with power and stressed the importance of informing neighboring countries and the international community that this group does not have a solution for achieving sustainable peace in Myanmar.

5. Dr. Tayzar San calls for a nationwide ‘no’ protest as Junta Chief Min Aung Hlaing’s end nears

Dr. Tayzar San, a prominent student leader from Mandalay, called for a nationwide “no” protest against the military junta in a recent social media post. He stated, “The sunset time of Min Aung Hlaing is getting closer and closer. On the other hand, we can see the military successes coming wave after wave clearly. At this time, whether we are in rural or urban areas, the entire public is joining the revolution with public strikes alongside these military struggles. It is important that our public strikes are implemented in synchrony with military battles.”

Dr. Tayzar San encouraged the public to participate in a general civil disobedience “no” movement and to initiate a wave of mass public struggle. The “no” protest will include boycotts against military products and acts of civil disobedience.

The incident has heightened local concerns as the junta continues to bombard towns and villages where civilians live.

6. CDM civil servants reject label of ‘Disloyalty Civil Servant’; call it is ridiculous

Civil servants participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) have responded to the military junta’s recent directive to label them as “Disloyalty Civil Servants,” calling it a crazy act. The military junta instructed ministries to replace the term “CDM” with “Disloyalty Civil Servant” for those who participate in the movement and do not return to work because they refuse to serve under the military regime.

A healthcare civil servant, who has been part of the CDM for three years, remarked, “The power-crazy military council will do and say as they want. We don’t care. We will continue to do what we should do to the end.”

The CDM community in liberated areas noted that CDM participants should be more cautious, given the junta’s malicious labeling.

This move comes despite a previous announcement on July 12, where the military junta declared that civil servants who left their workplaces without prior permission would be removed from blacklists. Just days later, the junta labeled them as “Disloyalty Civil Servant.”

7. Families of overseas workers in Myingyan face extortion by military junta members

On July 25, the “Myingyan Public Action Committee,” a local group, reported that the junta-appointed ward administrator in Ward No. 17 of Myingyan, Mandalay Region, extorted money from families of overseas workers. The administrator demanded 100,000 kyat from families with members working in Korea and 50,000 kyat from those with members working in Malaysia and Thailand. It was reported that the Ward No. 17 administrator is a former soldier, and he claims that the funds are being collected to support individuals attending military training for conscription.
