On July 21 at 10:00 a.m., a lieutenant colonel from Min Aung Hlaing’s coup army, along with two majors, five captains, and a total of 317 soldiers, surrendered to the MNDAA army, according to a report from the MNDAA.
The surrendered personnel expressed their intent to join the coalition forces in the fight against the coup army. The MNDAA welcomed their decision to join the revolutionary struggle, assured their personal safety, and outlined the political stance and policies of the allied forces. They also detailed the benefits and rewards available for prisoners of war.
In addition to ensuring basic livelihood support, the MNDAA provided prompt medical care to the injured and sick among the surrendered soldiers. It was reported that a substantial amount of firearms and ammunition were seized during the acceptance of the surrendered personnel.
2. MNDAA captures Kha La Ya-41 and Kha La Ya-68 battalions in Lashio city.
In Northern Shan State, local sources report that MNDAA joint forces have attacked and seized control of the Military Council’s 41st and 68th Infantry Battalion camps in Lashio.
As a result of the MNDAA’s offensive, the 41st Battalion of Khlara was compelled to withdraw from Lashio city on July 21. Residents have indicated that they are fortifying defenses around Lashio City Hall and Ward 9.
Following the capture of the 41st Battalion, on July 22, EROs and related personnel were detained by the MNDAA and are currently being interrogated. Some political prisoners have reportedly been released.
The Khlara-68 military base in the northern part of Lashio was also evacuated on July 23. Residents have mentioned that fleeing troops moved towards the prison and Koonkha Ward.
Currently, heavy fighting continues in Koengkha Ward, Shan Kone village near Lashio Prison, and around Wan Tin Battalion, with significant damage to homes from heavy weapons.
Lashio, which houses the Military Council’s Northeast Region Military Headquarters, saw simultaneous attacks on the Khmer-507 68 Army Corps camps in Mae Han village and Nung Lai village by the MNDAA and allied forces.
Local residents report that since July 21, the MNDAA joint forces have managed to advance deeper into the city’s interior, as the military council army retreats from these bases.
3. In Kyaukme and Mokot townships, military council weapons and ammunition were seized, and more than 50 enemy bodies and prisoners of war were captured.

6. A residential neighborhood in Laokkai was bombed at night, killing 2 people and injuring many
On July 23 at 12:18 a.m., Lokai City in Tigchan Township, Kokang Special Region (1), was bombed again by the military council, according to the Kokang News Agency. The attack resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others.
The military council’s Air Force dropped two bombs in Tigchan Township, causing explosions in the eastern part of the area and near the Hou Yuanlai Hotel in Ward 2. The bombing killed one man and one woman on the first floor of the hotel, and a man was reported to be seriously injured.
The deceased victims include a 34-year-old woman from the Shinkai area and a 37-year-old man residing in refugee camp group 15. A 30-year-old man from refugee group 16 in the Khe Phang area was severely injured.
Additionally, residents of the hotel guard tent, as well as individuals from nearby stores and homes, sustained minor injuries. Some stores and houses were reported to have been damaged.
Previously, on July 14, the capital of Kokang Special Region (1), Lauk Kai, was also bombed by the military council’s Air Force, resulting in the death of one civilian.
