Myanmar Spring Revolution Morning Fresh News for 2024 February 21

Acting President Duwa Lashi La said that in trying to countermand the conscription law, the perspective of nation-building should be taken into account.

Acting President Duwa Lashi La said this at the 7/2024 cabinet meeting of the National Unity Government on February 20.

“In trying to countermand the conscription law enforced by the Military Council, I think it is necessary to consider the view of nation-building rather than political considerations. The military council’s military service law is hindering the life progress of the next generation of young people in our country. The military council is trying to trample on the lives of young people for its own interests. We need to prevent this. This is directly related to future nation-building. We need talented young people to survive well in our country. Our older generation has the responsibility to shoulder and push the new generation,” said the Acting President.

The Acting President also said that in order to bring down the military dictatorship, efforts must be made to balance the revolutionary view and the political view.

Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann said this in the National Unity Government’s Cabinet Meeting No. (7/2024) held on February 20.

“We have all dedicated our efforts to bringing an end to the rule of military dictators. It is now time for the entire nation to unite in the fight, rather than fighting for one individual. Our government will collaborate with different revolutionary groups to accelerate the revolution. We will also strive to merge the public and armed struggles for greater impact,” he said.

Furthermore, the Union Prime Minister suggested that the military council will likely retreat from areas where they do not have an advantage and focus their efforts on launching offensives in areas where they believe they can succeed.

On February 20, Union Minister Dr. Sasa stated this in his message to the 76th Anniversary of Chin National Day.

Union Minster Dr. Sasa stated, “Armed with nothing but locally made TUMIs creatively transformed into Drones, we stand against modern weaponry and tyranny, showcasing the power of our collective and democratic will.

Though the military junta may seek to crush our spirit, they cannot extinguish our hope. We will rise from the ashes of destruction, rebuilding our homeland with renewed determination and resolve.”

He also prayed, “May God bless our endeavours, and may His light illuminate the path to a brighter future for our people and our beloved Chinland.”

The People’s Revolution Supply Family (PRF) reported that 57 percent of the support troops are still needed to reach 30,000.

“As a summary of the support troops as of February 20, within the first 20 days of the campaign, there are currently (12,840) support troops, and the estimated support money has reached US$472,608. This amount is still 57% needed to reach the target number of 30,000 support troops, so let’s keep fighting,” he urged.

The PRF has called on the people to join in order to reach 30,000 People’s Revolution supporters by February, the third anniversary of the revolution.

According to local residents, the military council is using massive force to distribute propaganda leaflets about the military conscription law in Taunggyi, Shan State.

Locals said that on February 20, the military council troops distributed propaganda leaflets to passing motorcycles and cars, as well as at local markets.

Furthermore, reports indicate that the military council troops are circulating propaganda leaflets promoting military service in Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, Mandalay City of Mandalay Region, Bago City of Bago Region, and Nay Pyi Taw.

The Military Council enforced the Military Conscription Law on February 10, announcing that it would take effect at the end of April.

It is reported that the General Strike Committee (GSC) for the fight against the military dictatorship held its 3rd anniversary ceremony, and the relevant revolutionary organizations attended.

GSC’s three-year celebration was held on February 20 through a Zoom meeting.

At the ceremony, GSC coordinator Ko Myo Thura said, “As the allied revolutionary forces, there is a need to build a coalition that can implement solid and practical processes through a policy that includes all political forces.”

According to a GSC official, around 200 members of the General Strike Committee (GSC) against the military dictatorship were arrested, and 20 members were killed during the 3-year period of the military council’s failed coup.

The comrades of the GSC, including Comrade Ke Za Win and Comrade Nyi Min Thu, were reportedly killed by the military council through shootings, arrests, and torture during interrogations.

The Arakan Army (AA) has released the military news that allied joint revolutionary forces, including the KIA and AA, captured the Sikhamgyi camp, an important camp of the military council in Mansi Township, Bhamo District, Kachin State.

The Sikhamgyi camp was attacked on February 17 with the cooperation of KIA, AA, and KPDF, and was captured at 5:00 p.m. on February 19. The Sikhamgyi camp, a military base designated as a relentless defense by the military council, was defended by aerial bombardment and heavy artillery shelling, but the allied joint revolutionary forces were able to attack and capture it successfully.

During the battle, the bodies of many soldiers of the military council were found, and many weapons and ammunition were seized.

During the battle to capture the Sikhamgyi camp, some comrades from the joint revolutionary forces were also killed, and at least 6 local residents were killed and 30 injured due to airstrikes.

It is confirmed that the fixed-wing drones bombarded the officer’s residence in the SaKaKha (19) Headquarters Battalion.

It is said that the Ye Guerrilla Force (Dawna Company-3) along with the Dawna Column bombed the officer’s residence in the SaKaKha (19) Headquarters Battalion of the Military Council at 2:00 pm on February 19 using fixed-wing drones.

The attack hit the target, and an ambulance sped toward the scene.

The exact death toll is still under investigation, and the military council’s troops recklessly fired about 50 rounds of heavy weapons throughout the day, both before and after the operation.

Following the drone’s successful bombing, as it withdrew, reports indicated that it came under fire from the SaKaKha (19) Headquarters Battalion and the IB-61 Battalion, resulting in damage to the drone.

On February 20, Natogyi (PaKaFa) confirmed that they bombed the military council troops stationed in the EPC office compound of Pyinsi Village, Natogyi Township.

“On February 18, two bombs were dropped by Fixwings on the military council soldiers stationed in the EPC office compound of Pyinsi Village, Natogyi Township,” it stated.

The attack was carried out by Natogyi (PaKaFa), Myingyan District Battalion – 04, Myingyan District Battalion – 08, and Myingyan District Drone Strike (MDDS).

It is reported that the Military Council and the Shanni Army (SNA) are launching offensives to Homalin and Shwe Pyi Aye in Sagaing, and the Military Council bombards them daily by Mi-2 helicopters.

Residents said that about 500 strong joint forces of the Shanni Army and the Military Council Army are on standby in the battalion in Homalin town.

Shwe Pyi Aye was founded by General Thar Aye, the commander of Sagaing Region during the previous military regime, and became a central town in the Tamu and Homalin areas.

In November 2023, the People’s Defense Forces attacked the military council camps in Shwe Pyi Aye and captured the town on November 22. Then, since December 25, the military council has launched offensives with ground columns with the support of the Air Force. But they retreated after suffering the damage of the counterattack by the revolutionary forces. On January 23, about 400 members of the Military Council and the Shani Army launched an offensive with ground columns and aerial support, and a ten-day battle ensued. 15 soldiers from the military council side were killed and about 40 were injured, according to Hkamti District Battalion 2. Now, the military council is trying to launch an offensive again for the third time.

At the end of 2023, the People’s Defense Forces and allied forces were able to attack and capture Kawlin, Khampat, Shwe Pyi Aye, and Maw Luu in Sagaing Division.

It is reported that the military council troops killed 3 PDF comrades and 5 young civilians, including 3 minor children, in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region.

On February 19, at around 6:30 a.m., about 45 members of the military council from the Ingyin Myaing Air Defense Force raided the outpost of a local defense force near Sagarpin Village. During the raid, 3 PDF comrades as well as 5 young men near the camp were shot and killed by the military council, said the information officer of the Madaya (PaKaFa) group.

He added that among the 5 young civilians who were killed, including 3 minors; 2 14-year-old children and a 15-year-old child.

However, the military council is spreading propaganda by alleging that the 8 young men they killed were PDF soldiers.

In addition, it is reported that some weapons and ammunition have been seized, but the Madaya (PaKaFa) group has not been able to release about details.

Madaya Township is an area where revolutionary forces are strong in Mandalay, so the military is committing mass killings and burning down many houses in the area.
