Union Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Thann said at the meeting of the Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) held on January 18 that it will be necessary to engage in city-occupation battles.
“I am profoundly satisfied with the revolution as we witness the systematic takeover of cities in ethnic alliance regions, progressing at a commendable pace. As the ruling National Unity Government, it is crucial for us to consolidate our control over the territory and persist in capturing cities. We are aware that by exerting greater military pressure, we can effectively enhance our control over the region. Thus, it is imperative to not only execute direct attacks but also employ psychological warfare tactics,” stated the Union Prime Minister.
Following, attending members of the ILACC explained the completion status of the activities discussed at the meeting (2/2024), future plans and processes that needed to proceed, and the relevant officials discussed them extensively.
Led by Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, union ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, associate permanent secretaries, and officials from ministries attended the meeting.

In addition, a warning has been issued that if they continue to serve at the will of the military council without resigning, they will be severely punished.
5. Residents from most of the villages fled due to the violent invasion of the junta troops in Depayin Township
It is reported that the junta troops have invaded and rampaged through Depayin Township, forcing residents from most of the villages to flee.
On January 18, the Depayin Township Brotherhood Association announced the invasion of the junta column.
“The terrorist military junta column is invading the villages in Depayin Township while the people are sleeping. There are also reports that they have raided Mae Oh Village in Depayin Township and arrested some residents, and we are trying to confirm it,” it stated.
Because the terrorist junta troops have arrived in the villages of Me Oh, Muu Kha Twin, and Let Yet Kone, the residents of the villages such as Aung Chan Thar, Ywar Shey, Me Oh, Muu Kha Twin, Let Yet Kone Nyaung Hla, and Tha Yet Taw fled to safety.
6. Nearly 200 civilians were killed by the terrorist military council in the KNU-controlled area

On January 18, the Arakan Army (AA) revealed the weapons, ammunition and military vehicles seized from the military council’s frontline camp based in the Paletwa region of Chin State.
The weapons, ammunitions and military equipment seized by the Arakan Army after the final capture of LIB-289, which is the front-line headquarters of the terrorist fascist military council based in the Paletwa region, and SaKaKha-19 were revealed along with a photographic record.
It is reported that the headquarters of LIB-289, the frontline division headquarters of SaKaKha-19 and the battalions of Division 11 in the vicinity of Paletwa have been deployed centered on the town.

“In 2023, there were no less than 4,623 major and minor skirmishes (camp capture battles, contact battles, guerilla battles, and drone operations) between the terrorist military council forces that invaded our territories and the revolutionary joint forces of Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A) and the Karen National Defense Organization (K.N.D.O).
During those (4,623) battles, a total of (5,005) soldiers, including officers, were killed and (3,345) were injured on the side of the coup-terrorist military council. On the part of the revolutionary joint forces under the leadership of the Karen National Liberation Army (K.N.L.A) and the Karen National Defense Organization (K.N.D.O), (154) sacrificed their lives for the country and the people, and (597) were injured,” it stated.
The coup terrorist military council that was defeated on all sides during the fighting has been targeting the public as if they were enemies, firing heavy weapons, airstrikes, and various other terrorist acts. As a result, there have been 751,669 people who fled their homes from 2021 to 2023.
10. The terrorist military council bombarded Lat Khet Taung in Myawaddy, Karen State, again

12. KIA and PDF joint forces captured the police station and departmental offices in Mongmit
A source on the ground said that a joint force of KIA and PDF captured the police station in Mongmit, northern Shan State, at 12:00 noon on January 18.
On January 18, at about 6:00 a.m., a fierce battle broke out between the Military Council and the joint forces of KIA and PDF in Assam, Shwe Sar Li and Ohn Kyaw villages near Mongmit, and the Military Council launched an air attack.
“At the moment, the police station has been controlled by the joint forces, as well as all the other departments. They are now attacking the military council’s LIB-223, 276, and 348,” a person close to the joint forces told MPN Media on the afternoon of January 18.
During the battle, the military council used air and dropped 3 bombs, causing many houses to be destroyed. Residents also reported that a house and an old movie theater were burned down due to gunfire.
The details of the casualties of local civilians due to the military council army’s heavy weapons and airstrikes are not yet known.
13. 4 military council members were killed and 6 were injured in the attack on the General Administration Office and the veterans’ office in Yesagyo
Myingyan Black Tiger -MBT announced that 4 members of the military council were killed and 6 were injured when the people’s defense joint forces attacked the township General Administration Office and the military veterans’ office in Yesagyo Town, Magway Division.
It is reported that the General Administration Office and the veterans’ office named Nyein Zarni, where the military council troops were stationed, were attacked simultaneously at 6:00 a.m. on January 17. In the attack, the revolutionary forces had a military advantage, and when the Nyein Zarni camp was about to be occupied, they fought again with the military council’s reinforced column, so the battle lasted for about 2 hours. It is also reported that the military council’s side suffered heavy casualties, and the battle took a long time because they were attacking from well-built bunkers and a good defensive position.
In that battle, 4 soldiers of the military council were killed and 6 were injured. MBT platoon commander Sir Karen and leader Comrade Thone Thone were also injured.
The operation was carried out by MBT Force, LY-PDF, Bo Sixty, Bright Stars Group (LPDF), Royal Eagle People Defense Force, Bo Sixty Guerrilla Force, N-YSO, Shwe Nyar Myay Special Commando Force, TPG Guerrilla Force, and Thwaythauk Force.
14. More than 30 local residents of Yesagyo were abducted by the military council as human shields
More than 30 local residents from Yesagyo Township, Magway Division, were abducted as human shields by the military council, said the person in charge of Yesagyo PaKaFa information.
On January 12, the military council troops arrested the people who were passing in front of Yesagyo LIB-256 and the people of Setaw Village near Zeetaw Pyu Village and used them as human shields on their way to Lingataw police station, Myaing Townships, he said.
“On January 14, around 9:00 a.m., our defense forces intercepted and attacked the 40-strong military council column that came to the Lingataw police station in Myaing Township, using the abducted residents as human shields,” said a PDF soldier. He continued that the column was attacked with heavy weapons and drones, and one Pyu member was killed and five were seriously injured.
After being attacked, the column entered the Lingataw police station along with the abducted people, and they are still in the police station as of January 18. The abducted people were not harmed in the attack, but they have not been released to this day.
It is reported that the attack was carried out jointly by the Yesagyo PaKaFa and Pakokku District Battalion-9.
