On September 29, the National Unity Government released the Notification No. (9/2023) that those who try to sell or destroy Compound No. 54-56 on University Avenue in Bahan Township will be prosecuted under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

“The National Unity Government of the Republic of the Republic of Myanmar, through Notification No. (15/2022) dated 2-9-2022, has declared that No. (54-56), University Avenue Road, Bahan Township, Yangon Region, with a total area of 1.923 acres and all immovable buildings on this land area, are designated as Interim National Cultural Heritage, and that it is strictly prohibited for anyone to possess, attempt to possess, sell, attempt to sell, destroy, attempt to destroy, alter, renovate, or otherwise use this national cultural heritage. The President has already signed and announced that if those prohibitions are violated, action will be taken in accordance with related laws.

Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann wrote on Twitter on September 29 that the Myanmar military’s assault on innocent children studying at a monastery is an unforgivable act of violence.

On September 27, at around 12:30 p.m., the terrorist military regime’s LIB-102 fired howitzer heavy artillery at the Khantiwuntharama Monastery in Joe Daung Village, Wun Tho Township, Sagaing Division, with 3 shells striking the monastery. As a result, 18 children were injured, with 6 of them suffering severe wounds. It is reported that the children were studying at the time of the shelling.

“Since February 2021, KHRG has received 22 reports containing evidence of SAC soldiers using human shields, involving more than 564 villagers,” it stated.

6. Local defense forces arrested a military council captain at his home in Monywa

It is reported that a captain from the Monywa-based Northwestern Regional Military Command was arrested in his home by the Black Falcon Guerrilla Forces on September 29.

The arrested person was Captain Aung Phyo Thein from the No. 2 700-bed Tatmadaw Hospital. He was arrested and detained on September 29 at around 7:30 a.m. when he was at his home in Aung Mingalar Ward, Monywa, according to the Black Falcon Guerrilla Forces.

“Along with him, a Hyundai car, two mobile phones and a laptop have been confiscated, and the defendant and all related items have been handed over to the township PaKaFa,” Black Falcon Guerrilla Forces stated.

Although the military has blocked the roads in and out of the city and put in full security, the defense forces were able to retreat successfully.

The current situation has highlighted that there is no security even though the military council has put in full security. Therefore, the Black Falcon Guerrilla Forces warned that the remaining employees under the military council should cooperate with the people as soon as possible. After the arrest of the captain, the army of the military council has been firing heavily into the villages with heavy weapons and is invading the villages to search for him.

7. The military council troops invading Yoma from Thein Kone tower base camp were ambushed, resulting in casualties

“On September 29, at around 9:30 a.m., the 27-strong military council column that came out of Thein Kone tower base camp was ambushed between Kaing Kwin Village and Htankone Village, Kaing Kwin Village Tract, Paungde Township, Pyay district, Bago Division, by the joint forces of Company 2 of Battalion 3601 of Pyay District People’s Defense Force (Paungde People Defense Force PPDF) and the sniper unit, Company 4 of Battalion 3602 of Pyay District People’s Defense Force. As a result of that attack, the enemy’s troops may suffer casualties, and it is still being confirmed,” it stated.

The military council troops returned fire and attacked with small arms and heavy weapons, but the People’s Defense Forces were able to retreat unharmed.

After about half an hour, the military council troops continued to move towards the Thit Pote tower base camp. The people’s defense forces, while clearing the scene of the battle, seized two unexploded 60-mm shells, used 40-mm shells, 2 rounds of 7.62 shells, and shell casings.
