1. Acting President Duwa Lashi La said that educational activities for the prevention of airstrikes will be increased at the grassroots level

On April 16, on the 2nd anniversary of the establishment of the National Unity Government, the Acting President, in his state of the union speech to the public, said that educational activities for the prevention of airstrikes will be increased at the grassroots level.

“Before the airstrikes of the terrorist military can be effectively protected, we will increase the educational activities for prevention of airstrikes at the grassroots level so that innocent people don’t die like this again,” the Acting President said.

Between January and March 2023, there were a total of 56 airstrikes by the military council, and 66 massacres since the illegal coup attempt.

“At the same time, in order to effectively prevent the airstrikes committed by the terrorist military group against the innocent public intentionally, we would like to seriously request that the sellers of military weapons to the terrorist military junta be sanctioned as soon as possible and to provide the NUG government with anti-aircraft weapons as soon as possible,” the Acting President added.

2. If there is a clear chance of winning the Spring Revolution, the world will support the revolution

The Union Minister of Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, U Tin Tun Naing, said that if there is a clear chance of winning the spring revolution, the world will support the revolution.

On April 15, the Union Minister said the following at the Acting President Duwa Lashi La’s New Year celebration meeting with the ODC (One Day Challenge) members.

“We are also trying to obtain strategic weapons. But we are still a long way off and even so, we are trying our best. If the world sees that we are the only ones that can win the revolutionary movement completely, the world will side with us,” the minister said.

The Union Minister also reiterated that currently, the National Unity Government is mainly working to cut off the terrorist junta’s foreign income and received funding.

3. NUG is providing support to the people who were injured and psychologically traumatized in the air strikes on Pazigyi Village in Kanbalu Township

On April 16, the NUG’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management released the news of providing support to the people who were injured and psychologically traumatized in the air strikes on Pazigyi Village in Kanbalu Township.

It is said that an Emergency Response Task Force with respective teams is being established at the union and township levels under the supervision of the Union Ministries and the management of the relevant officials of the Sagaing Region for the emergency response activities for the victims who were killed, injured, and psychologically traumatized in the air attack on Pazigyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region.

Kanbalu Township’s Emergency Response Task Force is assessing the urgent needs of the people fleeing the war and providing basic food and necessities.

It is also reported that the affected people, including children, who experienced the air attack firsthand, are now suffering from severe psychological trauma, so the ministry is providing support in connection with respective team.

4. Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe said that he was gladly happy that he had participated in the spring revolution and not sided with the murderous fascist military

On April 16, Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, said that he was gladly happy that he had participated in the spring revolution and not sided with the murderous fascist military.

“It is better to die. Every time I think about it in my life, the most satisfying, the happiest, the most enjoyable thing is that I stood on the side of the truth and on the side of the people, i.e., that I participated in the Spring Revolution. I’m gladly happy that I’m not sided with the fascist military, the war criminal murderer. I’d rather die than live with a murderous fascist military,” he said.

After the military seized power on February 1, 2021, most CDM employees participated in the non-violent anti-dictatorship movement.

5. The Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) held a meeting with people’s administrative bodies of Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady and Bago Divisions

On April 16, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and people’s administrative bodies of Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady and Bago Divisions (15/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Nai Tun Pe @ U Nai Suwunna, Ministry of Labour and member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, members of township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, relevant officials from ministries, and members of township people’s administrative bodies of Tanintharyi, Ayeyarwady and Bago Divisions.

6. The revolutionary Thingyan was celebrated in the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague (Praha) 

On April 15, the NUG Representative Office – Czech Republic released the news that the revolutionary Thingyan was celebrated in the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague (Praha).

The ceremony was begun with a 1-minute silence for those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy, building a federal union, freedom and human rights for generations, and then another 1-minute silence of mourning and prayers for all the people who fell during the spring revolution. 

After that, NUG Representative of the Czech Republic U Linn Thant gave an opening speech and showed the award-winning photo by World Press Award Winner photographer Mauk Kham Wah along with other photos.

In addition, together with documentary photos related to Thingyan celebrations from all ages, he also presented how the essence of Myanmar’s traditional Thingyan has been lacking due to the terrorist military dictatorship in Myanmar for the past 2 years.

Then, in the discussion called Revolution, Resistance, and Regionalism – Vision for new federal union and assessment of international response regarding the issue of Burma, U Linn Thant, representative of the National Unity Government of the Czech Republic, Mr. Igor Blazevic, a political analyst on Myanmar issue, and Ms. Kryšcina Šyjanok, Chancellor of the Belarusian Democratic Forces based in the Czech Republic, attended the discussion.

7. The terrorist military used the A5 fighter jet produced by China in the attack on the village of Pazigyi, Kanbalu Township

Ko Min Min, an expert on weapons and ammunition at the Ministry of Defence, confirmed at a press conference held by the National Unity Government on April 16 that the terrorist military used the A5 fighter jet produced by China in the attack on Pazigyi Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Division.

8. Two innocent civilians were killed when two jet fighters of the terrorist military council bombed Panpar Village in Mindat Township

What happened on April 16 was said by Salai Isaac Khen, chairman of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council.

“We have received initial information that two innocent civilians were killed and others were injured when two fighter jets of the terrorist military council bombarded Panpar Village in Mindat Township on April 16, at around 5:10 p.m.,” he said.

The terrorist military carried out airstrikes on the new town of Webula in Chin State on April 10 and on the village of Pazigyi in Kanbalu Township of Sagaing Division on April 11.

9. The People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) has confirmed that during the 10-day encounter with the terrorist military council, about 75 junta troops were killed and 60 were injured

The People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) confirmed the military news on April 15 that about 75 junta troops were killed and 60 were injured during the 10-day encounter with terrorist military council.

“Since the beginning of 2023, the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) has been conducting Operation Tha Pyay Nyo in the areas bordering Naungcho Township and Pyin Oo Lwin Township. Since April 5, 2023, there have been intense battles between the terrorist military council forces and People’s Defense Force (Mandalay),” it stated.

It is reported that the columns of the terrorist military council fired on the columns occupied by MDY PDF for 5 days in a row with various weapons and attacked with force, but they did not succeed and had to flee with many casualties.

During the 10-day battle, 7 comrades from the defense force sacrificed their lives and 15 were injured.

The protestors claimed that the Pazigyi incident in which 168 people, including innocent children and women, were killed was shockingly terrible, and demanded effective international actions against the terrorist military that has repeatedly committed war crimes and the participation of the Korean government in such action.
