1. Acting President Duwa Lashi La exhorts Myanmar nationals abroad to criticise and suggest improvements for the NUG government in its political leadership role

In his video speech sent to mark the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the Myanmar Federal Democratic Mission Coalition (MFDMC), which serves as a People’s Revolution Support Family (PRF) fundraiser, the Acting President Duwa Lashi La of the National Unity Government (NUG) remarked the following:

“We are struggling to produce more practical results. Now, I would like to say that our defensive war of the spring revolution has reached the stage of victory. The people living abroad are also asked to criticise and make suggestions to make our political leadership role stronger than it is now.”

The Myanmar nationals living abroad are making donations to support the Spring Revolution.

2. The Union Prime Minister directs the government to ensure not to neglect necessary measures for the revolution

At the cabinet meeting of the National Unity Government held via video conferencing on February 28, Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khine Thann directed, “Since our government is an interim revolutionary government, I would like to encourage everyone, on the one hand, to not neglect the measures that have to be taken according to the needs of the revolution and, on the other hand, to make efforts so that the mechanisms of a government can operate properly.”

Furthermore, the Union Prime Minister emphasised the importance of improving understandings with revolutionary allies in order to move forward.

3. NUG’s Union Minister Dr. Sasa says that the Federal Democratic Charter needs to be introduced and clarified because it is not well known by international governments

On February 28, when making a presentation at the Myanmar Global Town Hall meeting (Session 4): Diplomacy, International Relations, and Collaboration, Union Minister Dr. Sasa said the following about the Federal Democratic Charter:

“The Federal Democratic Charter is not well known by international governments. We need to introduce it to them. We need to talk more about Myanmar with them.”

The National Unity Government is proceeding according to the Federal Democratic Charter and is also engaging with the ethnic resistance organisations (EROs).

4. The CRPH holds a work coordination meeting on the drafting of the NDAA Budget Proposal

On February 28, the affairs committees of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH)—the Public Affairs Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Women, Youths and Children Affairs Committee—had a work coordination meeting with the National Unity Government’s Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and Women, Youths and Children Affairs via video conferencing to discuss the drafting of the NDAA Budget Proposal.

In the meeting, the affairs committees explained the plans and policies that were included in the Budget Proposal for the NDAA and discussed them mutually to ensure that they were consistent with the projects being planned by the ministries and that there were no vacancies.

Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (NUG), stressed the importance of collaboration in project management as well as clear and transparent cooperation between CRPH affairs committees and those working on the ground while preparing projects.

The Union Minister for Women, Youths and Children Affairs (NUG), Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, spoke at the meeting on the necessity for the government, parliament, and judiciary to function in a balanced manner and make sure that the laws passed by the various ministries have an impact on the ground. She also stressed the importance of ensuring that the needs of the people are met quickly and at the least possible cost.

5. NUG’s Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, Ku Hte Bu, meets with CDMers and holds a meeting to boost morale 

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration for the National Unity Government and the Psychosocial Support Taskforce (PSSTF) collaborate to hold a morale-boosting meeting for the people’s heroes, CDMers, on February 28 at 7:00 p.m.

When delivering his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Ku Hte Bu said, “Being a CDMer revolutionary comrade is very tough and involves a great deal of sacrifice. All the CDMers, both civil servants and civilians, are hardcore members of the revolution. I am very grateful and proud of everyone’s participation. Being a member of the revolution will face many difficulties, and I expressed great respect for those who participate despite such difficulties. The revolution will inevitably succeed as we see a revolution that has never been experienced in the history of Myanmar. All the CDMers participating in the revolution are well recorded.”

After that, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration gave a greeting speech, and then the Psychosocial Support Taskforce (PSSTF) explained its structure, held motivational discussions to encourage the CDMers, and responded to the questions raised by the CDMers.

Deputy Minister Khu Hte Bu, the Permanent Secretary, and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, CDM civil servants, and officials from the Psychosocial Support Taskforce (PSSTF) attended the meeting.

6. The military council troops torched villages in Wetlet Township in Sagaing’s Shwebo District 

According to the Wetlet information sources, in Wetlet Township, Sagaing’s Shwebo District, the military council troops opened fire with heavy weapons and small arms at Moke Soe Chon village at about 9:00 a.m. on February 28, 2023, and Bin Tae Kone village at about 7:30 a.m. on March 1, 2023, and also torched them. A farmer from Moke Soe Chon village was reportedly brutally killed by the military column.

The details of the situation are being confirmed, and the local villagers are fleeing.

According to local residents, starting on February 28, the military council troops divided into three columns and carried out territory clearance in Sagaing’s Wetlet Township, burning down at least 900 houses from villages and killing at least 15 civilians.
