1. Acting President Duwa Lashi La wishes for the Chinese New Year

On January 22, the Acting President Duwa Lashi La wished for the Chinese New Year saying that a new Burma will be built together that includes all ethnicities and recognizes and welcomes diversity.

“I’d like to greet the Year of the Rabbit by wishing all Chinese people in Myanmar and around the world a happy Chinese New Year. Burmese-born Chinese have made significant contributions over the years. Soon, we will build a new Burma that includes all ethnicities and recognizes and welcomes diversity together,” the Acting President said. Likewise, the National Unity Government’s Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs wished for the Chinese New Year.

2. The Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee meets with the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC)

On January 22, the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee held a meeting with the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC). Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, a member of the central committee, and U Nay Lin Aung, chairperson of the Chin National Consultative Council, gave opening remarks on behalf of the Union Prime Minister, who is also a member of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee. The meeting was attended by Central Committee members from the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee and officials from the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC).

3. Myanma Spring Revolution is a revolution that will remain as a successful example in history, Union Minister says

Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing said that Myanmar’s Spring Revolution is a revolution that will continue to exist as a successful example in history. U Tin Tun Naing, Union Minister of Planning, Finance, and Investment, stated on January 22.

“More than many revolutions that have ever occurred in the world, the Myanma Spring Revolution is a revolution that will remain as a successful example in history. The “Ye Yint Nway Oo” project, in fact, is about people’s victory, wishes, and hopes. There is no reason to fail the revolution,” the Minister said. It is reported that the Planning and Finance Ministry took time and prepared for the NUG government’s “Ye Yint Nway Oo” project over the last three months. In reality, when sales started on January 21 at 10:00 PM, all of the Spring Valor Condominiums (Ye Yint Nway Oo) were sold out within 18 hours.

4.  Deputy Minister of Education says many military council schools have experienced teacher inadequacies

Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun, the Deputy Minister of Education, informed on January 22 that many military council schools have experienced teacher inadequacies. “Some people are worried about public support for the revolution. Has the support weakened? The CDM community and students that I know are still fighting with a strong will to win this revolution. We’ve heard that CDM teachers are being contacted in various ways due to the teacher shortages in many military council schools.  They are putting pressure on the CDM community,” the Deputy Minister said. Moreover, the deputy minister reiterated that he believes teachers, employees, and students who participated in the revolution for two years, will never give up the military council. 

5. Deputy Minister Ei Thinzar Maung supports 1,000,000 Kyats to Ye Monster Force

It is reported that Deputy Minister Ei Thinzar Maung has contributed 1,000,000 Kyats to Ye Monster Force. The leader of Ye Monster Force confirmed it on January 22. “Yes,” said the group’s leader, saying that he had received a donation from the deputy minister. Ei Thinzar Maung, Deputy Minister of Women, Youths and Children Affairs, met with the Ye Monster Force.

6. NUG announced that it could help workers who arrived to work through the MOU system get paid

The National Unity Government announced that it was able to assist workers who arrived to work through the MOU system in Chonburi, Thailand, to get wages. The National Unity Government’s Labor Ministry informed the news on January 22. 

“The workers who arrived on December 19, 2022, to work at the Lakbam factory and the Phakee construction industry in Chonburi, Thailand, were not allowed to continue working in these industries, so the person in charge of the dispute resolution office (Bangkok) under the NUG Ministry of Labor’s Foreign Employment Management Department, went to help them resolve the issue,” it stated.

Reportedly, 30 workers at the Lakbam factory received 99,600 baht equivalent to 75 percent of their wages until the day they moved to their next job, and 10 workers at Phakee construction received 83,100 baht for 26 days. As the NUG Ministry of Labor is a civilian government, it has established a complaint mechanism to assist domestic and foreign Myanmar workers who have suffered violations of their labor rights during times of emergency.

7. NUGPay can be used to pay for Nway Oo University Courses

It is reported that NUGPay can be used to pay for all courses offered by Nway Oo University. NUGPay informed the news on January 22.

“Starting from the occasion of the Lunar New Year, students can use NUGPay to enroll in any courses offered by Nway Oo University. Nway Oo University aims to strengthen the revolution in collaboration with the public and students, and we are pleased to inform students that they can enroll in courses using NUGPay, a payment system that is secure and completely independent of the terrorist military council’s financial mechanism,” it described. Currently, the courses opened by Nway Oo University have been announced on the relevant pages, and those interested can register and apply through the links.

8. All Spring Valor Condominiums (Ye Yint Nway Oo) were sold out within 18 hours

It is reported that all Spring Valor Condominiums (Ye Yint Nway Oo) were sold out within 18 hours, with a total sale value of USD 10.35 Million.  EOD informed on January 22 about the sale of Spring Valor Condominium (Ye Yint Nway Oo).

“All apartments in Spring Valor Condominium were sold out within 18 hours from the start of sales. The total sales value is USD 10.35 Million. The entire EOD Project team salutes all of the brave citizens who participated so passionately,” EOD team said. The 770 units at Ye Yint Nway Oo Condominium opened for sale on January 21 at 10:00 pm. Ye Yint Nway Oo Condominium is a project that will take over military-owned lands 106 on Kabar Aye Pagoda Road and build condominiums in accordance with the law. 

9. People’s Defense Forces opened fire on the military council’s column, killing three soldiers

Three soldiers were killed when defense forces opened fire on a military council’s column retreating to Koetaungboet, Kanbalu district, Sagaing division. The KR Team announced the military news on January 22. “The grocery store in Waryonkhon village was set on fire on January 22 by 53 soldiers who leave from Koetaungboet. On their way to retreat, the Kawlin district battalion 1, Zin Yaw Lay division, Kyaw Gyi division, and the Kawlin township’s People’s Defense Force (PKAF) started firing at the KhaMaYa 363,” the KR Team said.

It is said that at least three soldiers were killed and many others injured during the battle. The battle lasted for about an hour, and the revolutionary comrades were able to retreat without harm.

10. 11 people killed and 8 others injured after attacking 6 military council vehicles with landmines

Six military council vehicles departing from Pakokku to Kanma were hit by landmines, killing 11 and injuring 8, according to Myaing P.D.F. “Six military vehicles departing from Pakokku to Kama were attacked with three mines on January 21 between 06:30 and 06:42 a.m., killing 11 people on the spot,” it described. Eight injured people were taken to Pakokku by social assistance vehicles. It is said that the junta troops began firing wildly into the surrounding area with various large and small weapons as soon as the detonation occurred.

11.         The military council’s fighter jet bombed residential buildings near Sawntaung village, resulting in casualties

The military council’s fighter jet bombed residential buildings near Sawntaung village in Mindat city, Chin State. On January 22, Mindat Public Administration Group confirmed the news. “A military council fighter jet dropped two bombs on residential buildings near Sawntaung village at around 11:50 p.m. on January 21, causing damage to houses and injuring one male and one female (not serious),” Mindat Public Administration Group said. 

On January 22, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the terrorist junta troops fired five rounds at Vawmm’Tu village with howitzer guns installed in Mindat city. A few people were injured in the shooting, and the extent of damage is unknown. The villagers are fleeing because terrorist junta troops are bombing villages and firing heavy weapons without reason.
