On January 19, Acting President Duwa Lashi La expressed his gratitude to New Zealand for its sanctions against the Myanmar terrorist group via Twitter, as follows:
“Thank you, NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for your support – NZ immediately imposed sanctions under your leadership in response to 1 Feb 2021 military attempted coup against democratically elected government in Myanmar. You’re a friend of Myanmar people. My best wishes to you.”

The junta-run Myinmu Township Immigration and Population Office was reportedly set on fire.
The People’s Army to Fight Dictatorship (PAFD), a revolutionary force in Sagaing Division, claimed that it and its allies set fire to the junta-run Myinmu Township Immigration and Population Office on January 19 at about 7:05 p.m., where the voter list for the sham election was being conducted. In the attack, the PAFD and its squadron, the DK PDF-MMU, destroyed collected population records and computers, according to the PAFD.
The attack was carried out jointly by the People’s Army to Fight Dictatorship (PAFD), its squadron DK PDF (MMU), the People’s Knight Defence Force Myinmu (PKDF.MMU), the Taungtha People’s Defence Force (TTAPDF), and the D.B.B.F. MMU.

The Khin-U KDK, a revolutionary force in Sagaing Division, claimed that a clash broke out near the west bank of the Mu River between the local defence forces and a combined force of the military council troop and Pyu Saw Htee members who came out of the camp where they were stationed in Ywa Thit Kone Village, Khin-U Township, Sagaing Division.
It said: “About 20 members of Pyu and military council troops stationed in Ywa Thit Kone Village crossed to the west of the Mu River and a clash broke with the local defence forces at around 8:40 a.m. At around 8:40 a.m., about 15 members of Pyu and military council troops entered Ywa Thar Lay Village.”
As the military council no longer has control over Sagaing Division, it deploys its troops to march into the villages every day and target civilians.
