Meeting with the National Unity Government, Interim Local Administration Central Committee, and Public Administration Bodies of special administrative regions

The National Unity Government, the Interim Local Administration Central Committee, and the Public Administration bodies of special administrative regions held a (12/2022) meeting on October 21. Dr. Win Myat Aye, a member of the Interim Local Administration central committee, Union Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, gave opening remarks at the meeting. Then, attended Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers said greetings respectively.

The attended Ministries clarified the current carried-out activities, and members of the extended public administration bodies mutually discussed difficulties encountered on the ground and what they want to know. Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Joint secretaries, and officials from extended public administration bodies attended the meeting.

Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, Union Minister of Federal Union Affairs of the National Unity Government, attended the international discussion on Myanmar issues with the theme of “Spring Revolution and Myanmar’s Long Road Toward National Unity”, held by the Southeast Asia branch of the Center for Asian Studies at Seoul university. 

International and Korean researchers, who specialized in Myanmar issues attended the event. After that, analyzed Myanma’s current situation and future prospects and discussed issues from various perspectives.

Union Minister of NUG presented the causes of the 70-year armed conflict that has been going on since Myanmar independence until today. Additionally, he presented why the federal system is necessary for multi-ethnics living in Myanmar, and the political goals of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC). Then, he answered questions asked by the attendees. At the opening of the conference, Daw Zin Mar Aung, Union Minister of Foreign Affairs, also delivered an opening speech via video file, and Mr. Lee Sang Hwa (Public Diplomacy Ambassador), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Former Korean Ambassador to Myanmar, attended and delivered a speech. U Yan Naing Tun, representative of the NUG to the Republic of Korea, and representative office members attended the meeting.
