Union Minister of National Unity Government says, although ASEAN’s “Five-Point Consensus” is inadequate, military leaders have so far failed to implement them
During an interview on May 13, Foreign Minister Zin Mar Aung said that although ASEAN’s “Five-Point Consensus” is not enough to solve the problem, the military leaders have not yet been able to implement them.”
“Even these basic inadequate points have not yet been fully implemented, so ASEAN need to push this matter forward and there is still more work to be done.” said the Minister.
The ASEAN Five-Point Consensus includes to seek a peaceful solution among all stakeholders; an immediate cessation of violence in Myanmar; to initiate constructive dialogue among all parties; and release all detainees.

In an interview in May, Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe said that the school attendance in the controlled territory in Kachin State’s ethnic areas has increased from two/three thousands to twenty/thirty thousand.
He said “Education continues in the controlled territory, in ethnic areas. In Kachin, they managed their own education. KIO has conducted systematic examinations for the tenth grade students in those areas, and at is how the education situation has changed.”
At present, the National Unity Government is implementing interim education and liaising with ethnic areas.

On May 15, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that the University of Forestry and Environment will now offer online undergraduate courses regularly and the National Unity Government (NUG) would recognize obtained degrees.
At the same time, NUG will not recognize the degree programs offered by the military council, and will also make a record the students who attended to those programs.
For successful graduates of the NUG-recognized University of Forestry and Environment in the interim education system, if they want to pursue a postgraduate degree abroad, NUG will support it.
