The members of the National Unity Government expressed their condolences on the passing of writer Nyi Pu Lay.

On June 21, the Union Minister of the Ministry of Defence, U Yee Mon, said this.

“I remember that on my birthday last year, Saya Nyi Pu Lay sent me a birthday wish saying, “May you be healthy and live for more than a hundred years. The revolution must prevail. The revolution must prevail.” We are saddened by the passing away of a Ludu family member who always wanted the welfare of the country. We promise that we will continue marching until victory. May you rest in peace,” said the minister.

Writer Nyi Pu Lay, the youngest son of Ludu Daw Amar and Ludu U Hla, died of a heart attack on the morning of June 21.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the message of passing of Mr. Nyi Pu Lay (politician and writer). Not only for the world of Myanmar’s literature and art, but also for his stance in politics been left behind as memorial stones. May he rest in peace,” said Foreign Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung.

The writer Nyi Pu Lay is the fifth youngest child of Ludu U Hla and Ludu Daw Amar, and is a prominent person in the fields of literature and art.

He won the National Literature Prize for his book ‘The Sweet Honey Drop on the Sharp Scalpel Blade’.

In the meeting of the two sides, they discussed;

(1) To enable more effective economic sanctions and to prevent the flow of money to the terrorist junta.

(2) To cut military weapons and equipment

(3) To stop impunity and take legal action against the Myanmar military junta.

In addition, the Minister of Human Rights requested to help the NUG gain recognition as the legitimate government of Myanmar, increase humanitarian assistance, and increase the technical assistance and academic scholarship programs needed in the process of establishing a future federal union.

On June 21, the meeting between the NUG’s Interim Local Administration Central Committee (ILACC) and the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions (19/2023) was held.

At the meeting, Union Minister for Justice U Thein Oo, a member of ILACC, gave an opening speech.

Following, officials from ministries explained the activities of relevant ministries, and then members of the township people’s administrative bodies exchanged views with relevant officials regarding policies, directions, operations, and challenges encountered on the ground.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister U Thein Oo, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, officials from ministries, and members of the township people’s administrative bodies of Mandalay and Magway Divisions.

4. Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Labor Affairs Committee discussed the implementation of plans that will support the Spring Revolution

It is reported that the Labor Committee of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) held a meeting on June 20 with officials from the Ministry of Commerce of the National Unity Government to implement plans that will support the Spring Revolution and to receive international assistance.

During the discussion, Dr. Khin Ma Gyi, Secretary of the Labor Affairs Committee, clarified the purpose of the meeting.

After that, Union Minister Daw Khin Ma Ma Myo expressed her gratitude for the invitation to the meeting, and said that through such regular meetings, we will be able to find ways to implement them, and that there will be areas where we can cooperate in the future.

After that, the attendees discussed to provide employment opportunities for CDMs, political activists, and displaced people, implement plans that will support the Spring Revolution, receive international aid, about issues related to fund raising that can be connected to, and were able to establish agreements related to the next steps.

The meeting was attended by the secretary and members of the Labor Affairs Committee, the Union Minister and officials from the Ministry of Commerce.

5. Conducted programs to comfort the bereaved families of those who lost their lives due to the air strikes by the terrorist military

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management announced on June 21 that it has conducted programs to support the bereaved families of those who lost their lives due to airstrikes by the terrorist military.

“The bereaved family members of those who lost their lives due to the air attack, especially married women who lost their heads of households, sons, daughters, are suffering from great trauma. In order to alleviate the grief of the women who are affected in such a situation, we invited Sayadaw Htarvara and psychologists to give them encouragement in connection with those in charge on the ground for 2 days,” it stated.

On the first day, Sayadaw Htarvara preached sermons that would give mental strength to the bereaved family members in Pazigyi village. On the second day, a female psychologist provided comfort and encouragement to the surviving married women.

The mental strengthening program is conducted in collaboration with Sayadaw Htarvara, Mind healers-Psychosocial support group.

On April 11, the terrorist military council’s inhumane aerial attack on Pazigyi Village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, killed 157 innocent people, including pregnant women and children, and seriously injured 32 others.

“From February 2021 to June 21, 2023, the junta killed (3) women and (88) men; (91) people in total across the country. All deaths occurred in detention, and they were interrogated as well. Mandalay Region contains the highest number of deaths, with (20),” it stated.

(45) people died from February to December in 2021. (32) people died in 2022 and (14) people died from January to June 21 in 2023.
