The Acting President, Duwa Lashi La, said that the National Unity Government will repeal and amend oppressive laws, including the 1982 Burma Citizenship Law, which causes violations of human rights and discrimination.

Acting President Duwa Lashi La added this at a friendly meeting, held on August 29 at 7:00 p.m., between the National Unity Government and the Rohingya people who have taken refuge in Bangladesh.

“The National Unity Government is particularly saddened by the fact that over one million Rohingya people have become displaced refugees and are still homeless due to the terrorist acts committed by the Myanmar military with the intention of making the Rohingya people disappear. In addition, the National Unity Government has made a commitment to repeal, amend, and replace the oppressive laws, including the 1982 Burma Citizenship Act, which causes violations of human rights and discrimination,” the Acting President said.

On August 30, Bago Division People’s Defence Force Battalion-3702 (BPDF Yoma) said, “At 5:00 a.m. today, Than Seik camp of the military junta in Shwegyin Township was captured. While those guys ran away, they attacked the village with heavy weapons, killing one villager and injuring three.”

At present, it is reported that the military junta troops have increased their strength near the village and are re-marching again.
