Virtual Meeting Between the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, H.E. Duwa Lashi La, met the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights, H.E. Michelle Bachelet, virtually on 14 July.

At the meeting, the Acting President, extending his heartfelt gratitude, thanked the High Commissioner for her abiding commitment to the democratic aspirations and human rights of the Myanmar people and for her call on the international community to directly engage with the National Unity Government.

On behalf of Myanmar and the National Unity Government, the Acting President also pledged the country’s commitment to its international human rights obligations and requested the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to provide technical assistance to this end.

The Acting President further assured the High Commissioner of Myanmar’s sustained support for her Office and mandate.

Global Virtual Meeting with the National Unity Government will be held

It was announced that a meeting between the public and the National Unity Government would be held on 17 July at 8:30 pm.

The meeting will be attended by Prime Minister H.E. Mahn Winn Khine Thann, along with the ministers and Ko Min Ko Naing.

The people (domestic and abroad) and the National Unity Government will discuss the current situation of the Spring Revolution.

On 15 July, Union Minister for Planning, Finance and Investment wrote on social media, “The historical consciousness of the people of Myanmar were filled with bitter and disgusting experiences and wounds caused by the evil dictatorships. Under the dictatorship, justice, freedom, and the right to live as human beings have disappeared, and many generations have sacrificed their lives. That is why Myanmar’s Spring Revolution emerged, and the people are fighting relentlessly with the ultimate sacrifice to shape their future.”

On 14 July, Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye wrote on social media, “Don’t forget about the future. Feel with those who gave up their own future for the future of the people, especially the youth. Try to understand. We all are working.”

Justice for Myanmar calls on the Indian firm Sandeep Metalcraft Private Limited to stop supplying fuzes Myanmar military, supporting indiscriminate attacks

On 15 July, the Justice for Myanmar released an announcement regarding India’s supply of fuzes to the Myanmar military, which supports the indiscriminate attacks.

The announcement states, “Indian firm Sandeep Metalcraft Private Limited is supplying fuzes to the Myanmar military, directly supporting its attacks against the people of Myanmar that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Fuzes are devices that cause detonation in bombs and artillery. Justice For Myanmar calls on India to impose an immediate arms embargo on the Myanmar military.”

According to records from the Panjiva trade database, the most recent shipment from Sandeep Metalcraft was on 25 March 2022, consisting of 3,000 fuzes. This followed a shipment of 1,000 fuzes in 2020 and 5 fuzes in 2019.

Although the records of two later shipments did not specify the type of fuzes, the 2019 shipment was of the time mechanical fuze 447, designed for 84mm Carl Gustaf recoilless rifles.

The Myanmar military has used 84mm Carl Gustaf rounds during attacks in ethnic areas.

Katha District People’s Defense Force instructs all administrators appointed by the military council to resign within ten days

On 15 July, Katha District People’s Defense Force released a statement, “Now in Sagaing Division, the administration mechanism of the terrorist military council is removed, and the people’s administration authority is being established. For this reason, the National Unity Government has started to operate the people’s administration mechanism by forming the people’s administration bodies at the village-level, ward-level, township-level, and district-level in Sagaing Division.”

It is said that all those who illegally serving at various levels of administration under the coup d’état military council were instructed to leave their positions and areas of responsibility within ten days from 15 July.

Tamu PDF Battalion 1 carried out area clearance and security procedures on the Tamu – Aung Zeya road section

People’s Defense Force – Tamu Battalion 1 said, “On 14 July, we, People’s Defense Forces (Tamu City) Battalion-1 comrades carried out area clearance and security procedures on the Tamu – Aung Zeya road section.”

People’s Defense Force – Tamu Battalion 1 is based in Sagaing Division and conducts frequent road inspections to ensure public safety.

NUGPay’s Pilot Project will start with only “ten thousand” wallets.

It is announced that NUGPay will be gradually implemented to cover the entire country.

Currently, the NUGPay account can be created with agents in Myanmar, Thailand, and Singapore, and agents for other regions will be announced soon.
