1. NUG’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee meets with Public Administration Groups in Sagaing and Magway regions

On March 10, the National Unity Government’s Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee held a meeting (10/2023) with Public Administration Groups in Sagaing and Magway regions. U Nai Tun Pe (b) Nai Suwunna, Union Minister of Labor and member of the Interim Local Public Administration Central Committee, delivered opening remarks at the meeting. 

The Gangaw District Public Administration Group then explained the operations, recommendations, and reviews of the district’s field inspections. After that, public administration organizations in Sagaing and Magway regions discussed the challenges encountered on the ground and what they wanted to know, to which department officials responded. The meeting was attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Joint Permanent Secretaries, officials from various departments, leaders and members of Public Administration Groups in Sagaing and Magway regions.

Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Union Minister of Health, stated on March 10 that politicians who do not stand with the people brutally killed by the terrorist army are politically dead. “Politicians who do not stand with the people brutally killed by the terrorist army will never gain public support, and they will never survive politically in Myanmar politics,” the Minister said. Currently, some political parties are registering to compete in the terrorist military council’s sham election.

Union Minister Dr. Tu Hkawng said on March 10 that military council lobbyists are writing to make PaKaHpa and PDF appear separate.

“The military council’s lobbying strategy is well underway. I think the revolution has already gotten underway because I haven’t used an online for a long time due to a poor internet connection and a busy work schedule. Many posts in the online world are written to discourage people. What I want to summarize is none of these posts is true. Some want news, some want subversion, and some want people to believe that township- or village-level local people’s defense forces (PaKaHpa) and PDF are different,” the Minister said. 

Currently, some resistance forces and revolutionary comrades have written and criticized the National Unity Government.

4. Deputy Minister Maw Tun Aung honors the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of people who refused to take the junta’s matriculation exam

Deputy Minister Maw Tun Aung said that he respects and honors the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of people who refused to take the junta’s matriculation exam. 

“We respect and honor the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of people. Let us strive for the emergence of a new education system that promotes careers and revised teaching without putting a burden on students throughout their lives,” the Minister said. There are hundreds of thousands of students who did not take the military council’s matriculation exam this year.

5. 66 Myanmar workers and landlord arrested and prosecuted under the Guest Registration Act in Thailand

According to Ko Ye Min (ACC), on March 10, 66 landlords and Myanmar workers were arrested and prosecuted in Thailand’s Mahachai area under the Guest Registration Act. 

“Thai immigration conducted a casual inspection in the Mahachai area, where most Myanmar people live in Thailand, and charged the landlord and 66 Myanmar workers under the Guest Registration Act. The Samut Sakhon province’s immigration is reportedly starting to search for apartments where Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodians live,” it stated. 

The Samut Sakhon province’s immigration has reportedly charged 29 male and 37 female Myanmar workers, including the landlord, with violating the Guest Registration Act, as determined by an inspection of the apartments in March.

6. Myanmar junta forces opened fire on Nyaungwun village with heavy weapons, killing two women

According to AAPP report, on March 10, terrorist junta forces stationed at a monastery in Pauk township’s Pyinchaung village opened fire with heavy weapons on Nyaungwun village, killing two women.

“On March 9, around 9:00 a.m., a terrorist junta column stationed at a monastery in Pauk township’s Pyinchaung village opened fire with heavy weapons on Nyaungwun village, killing two women,” it stated. At least 3,120 people were killed, including democracy activists who opposed the arbitrary military coup on February 1, 2021, according to AAPP.

7. Myanmar junta forces shot two mentally ill people near Myingyan’s clock tower, killing one

According to the Myingyan Public Movement Committee, on March 10, terrorist junta forces shot two mentally ill people near Myingyan city’s clock tower, one of whom died.

“At around 11:00 yesterday night, terrorist junta forces shot two mentally ill people near Myingyan city’s clock tower, one of whom was killed and another was injured,” they said. The deceased was mentally ill and used to sing and dance in front of the Sandadawpyae Pagoda.

8. Defense forces shot terrorist junta troops stationed at Pyu Saw Htee’s house in Htanpinkone village

According to Bago PDF, defense forces opened fire on terrorist junta troops stationed at 100-house-group elder Pyu Saw Htee’s house in Htanpinkone village in Okpho township, Thayarwaddy district, on March 10.

“At 2:15 a.m. on March 9, Thayarwaddy district PDF Battalion 3802, Division 4 and Division 5 launched an attack on the home of 100-house-group elder Myo Win in Htanpinkone village, Okpho township,” Bago PDF said. The two sides exchanged fire, the death toll from the military council side is still being investigated. 

9. Anti-regime protest movement held in Langone city

On the afternoon of March 10, Dawei district’s Democracy Action Strike Committee held an anti-regime protest movement in Langone city. The public marched with the banner “Let’s fight the fascist election to escape the life of military slavery” to protest the fake election forced by the military coup. Approximately 20 military council troops arrived minutes after the movement and blocked and checked pedestrians with five cars and seven motorcycles.
