The National Unity Government informed that it is deeply committed to working with the Kachin revolutionary forces to overthrow the military dictatorship and build a federal democratic union.

It is stated in the message sent by the National Unity Government on the 47th Anniversary of Kachin Martyrs’ Day on 10 August.

It states – Today, 10 August 2022 is the 47th anniversary of the Kachin Martyrs’ Day (Share Shagan Nhtoi), a commemoration of the great Kachin martyr leaders who gave their lives for the Kachin revolution, and it is also a Memorial Day for the Kachin national martyrs who carried the birth of the Kachin Revolution together.

In the early days of August 1975, the dictators systematically assassinated the fathers of the Kachin revolution, who were bravely working for the right to self-determination and political equality of the Kachin people, with the aim of fading away the revolution.

This incident was a great loss for the Kachin people and a tragic event that has been mourned for many years.

It is respectable and proud that despite this tragic incident, the Kachin revolution did not give up, and KIO/KIA, the Kachin Revolutionary Front, was able to be united and it continued to lead the revolution with 47 years of evolution and service.

The National Unity Government is a government that is determined to completely destroy the dictatorship that has ignored the political rights of ethnic peoples for ages and ruled with weapons and to build a true federal union that fully guarantees national equality, self-determination, and democracy that all ethnic peoples, including the Kachin people, want.

Therefore, on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Kachin Martyrs’ Day, which falls on 10 August 2022, the National Unity Government sends this message that it is deeply committed to working with the Kachin revolutionary forces to overthrow the military dictatorship and build a federal democratic union that all ethnic groups in Myanmar, including the Kachin people, want.
