On May 16, an MDF member confirmed that there was only one artillery unit of junta left in Kani, Sagaing Division, “There is only one artillery unit of junta left in Kani. Previously, Win Ma Nar military base was attacked by MDF-PDF Battalion 1, in collaboration with the allied PDF Battalions. If we could attack the artillery unit again, we can declare Kani a liberated area.”
The Win Ma Nar police station in Kani has been abandoned by the junta troops in recent days.

On 16 May, the Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management announced that “a short video footage of the real voices of victims from the villages which were burned down by Myanmar terrorist military” will be broadcast on Wednesday, 18.05.2022 at 6 pm on the Ministry’s Facebook page and on PVTV’s YouTube channel.
Currently, Sagaing Division has the highest number of civilian casualties due to the burning of villages by the junta troops.
