1. The Union Prime Minister exhorts his cabinet to overcome challenges with a firm conviction that “a just war must be won” and the strength of the people’s participation

Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann remarked the following at the Cabinet Meeting (16/2023) of the National Unity Government held on April 25:

“For our government, as it is, on the one hand, working hard in the resistance war to eradicate the terrorist military council and, on the other hand, having to work hard to provide public services as the government that the people elected and trusted, there will be difficulties. I would like to encourage everyone to overcome these difficulties with a firm conviction that ‘a just war must be won’ and the strength of the people’s participation, and to walk unitedly to the destination of the journey.”

The National Unity Government declared the People’s Defensive War on September 7, 2021, and is currently advancing at a faster pace in 2023.

2. NUG’s Union Minister of Labour, Nai Suwunna, calls on the workers at home and abroad to participate in the 2023 May Day campaign

Nai Suwunna, Union Minister of Labour of the National Unity Government, called for participation in the 2023 May Day campaign as follows:

“Labour Day (May Day 2023) will be observed on May 1, 2023, and we would want to sincerely pay our respects to the labour heroes who have stood up for and fought for the interests and rights of all workers throughout history. In Myanmar, the terrorist military has seized power illegally and is oppressing the entire ethnic population in various ways. On May Day 2023, the May Day campaign and May Day online celebration will be held by the Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government and allied organisations with the slogan ‘United Voice of Workers, Fight for Federal Future’ in an effort to restore the democratic human rights and labour rights that Myanmar has lost and with the determination to end tyranny.”

Workers at home and abroad are called on to join the 2023 May Day campaign by wearing t-shirts displaying the Myanmar workers’ slogan, “United Voice of Workers, Fight for Federal Future.”

3. NUG arrests military informants in connection with the Pazigyi massacre and opens a case under Section 54 of the Counter-Terrorism Law

On April 29, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration of the National Unity Government announced that it had arrested four culprits who provided information to the military that led to the brutal air attack against Pazigyi village, Kanablu Township, Sagaing Division, and that a case had been opened under Section 54 of the Counter-Terrorism Law.

“In relation to the air attack on Pazigyi village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Division, the National Unity Government immediately took action to arrest and punish the culprits. Regarding the incident, the People’s Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration of the National Unity Government, with the help of the People’s Defence Forces, arrested four military informants who participated in the air attack, namely, U Thein Shwe, 53 (Father: U Pe), U Cho, 61 (Father: U Tin), Zaw Min, 36 (Father: U Kyan Tin), and Yin Yin Win, 30 (Father: U Myint Soe). A case against the four defendants was opened at the Kanbalu Township People’s Police Station (Pa) with Case No. 1/2023 under Section 54 of the Counter-Terrorism Law, and the People’s Police Force is working to build a strong case and prosecute the defendants.”

Meanwhile, cases against terrorist fascist leader and dictator Min Aung Hlaing and his five accomplices, as well as two other informants, Monk U Wa Thawa, the leader of the military-backed terrorist Pyu Saw Htee militia, and Daw New Yin, according to the interrogation of the defendants, were also opened under Section 54 of the Counter-Terrorism Law at the Kanbalu Township People’s Police Station (Pa) with Case No. 2/2023 and Case No. 3/2023, respectively.

During the Pazigyi air attack, a total of 186 innocent civilians, including minor children, were brutally killed and 29 others were seriously injured.

4. Ye Bhilu Guerrilla Group attacks the military checkpoint gate on the Asia Highway in Ye Town

On April 29, the leader and commander of Ye Bhilu Guerrilla Group claimed that the group had attacked the military council checkpoint on the Asia Highway in Ye Town, Mon State, this morning, and there may have been causalities on the military soldiers.

“There have been casualties; we stormed the checkpoint gate this morning,” he said.

5. The LIB-369 column that stormed and opened fire at Hnaw Kone village, Kawlin Township, looted the precious jewelry of the locals

According to locals, on April 26, a military column of the 369th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB-369) stormed and opened fire at Hnaw Kone village, Kawlin Township, looting jewels and valuables from the residents.

“On April 26, at about 5:00 a.m., the residents ran away in fear as the military column that came from Kyauk Pyin Thar village in the eastern part of Kawlin Township stormed and opened fire indiscriminately at Hnaw Kone village. It is discovered that the 369th Light Infantry Battalion that raided the village also took away valuable things. Three ticals [approximately 16.33 grams] of gold were looted from Ma Ei Hlaing’s (alias) home, and other residents also lost valuable jewels,” said the locals.

The terrorist military burned down more than 60,000 homes and buildings throughout the country and killed civilians on sight.

6. The number of IDPs nationwide increased by a new record of nearly 700,000 in the first quarter of 2023

According to the statement of the Institute for Strategy and Policy-Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar) in the last week of April, the number of IDPs fleeing the armed conflict has increased by a record of nearly 700,000 in the first quarter of 2023.

“As the armed conflict intensified in 2023, the number of IDPs fleeing the conflict also increased. In the first quarter of this year, at least 682,344 IDPs increased across the country. This figure is over one-fourth of the total IDPs increased beyond the coup,” said the statement.

Sagaing is the region with the highest number of IDPs, and according to the ISP-Myanmar, the number of IDPs in Sagaing Region is no less than 1,374,083. Magway has the second-highest number of IDPs, followed by Kayah, which has the third-highest number.

“Among the townships declared martial law by the military council, the number of IDPs has also increased in 16 townships. Between February 1 and April 20 this year, the number of IDPs increased by at least 357,520, of which Sagaing’s Khin-U Township saw the largest increase with at least 121,300 IDPs,” stated the ISP-Myanmar.

7. NUG’s most recent housing investment project, Spring Inya condominium, has secured 264 pre-registrations and received 4.81 million US dollars

On April 29, the End of Dictatorship (EOD), the initiative of the NUG’s Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, announced that its most recent housing investment project, Spring Inya condominium, has so far secured 264 pre-registrations and received 4.81 million US dollars.

Spring Inya condominium, which will sell a total of 750 condo units, starts its sale today, April 29.

Spring Inya condominium will be constructed on a site next to U Tun Nyein Road, which is part of 30 acres of terrorist military-owned land on Parami Road after confiscating it in accordance with the law and will include three types of condo units: one-bedroom+, two-bedroom+, and three-bedroom+.
